Hi there,
I also got one of this babies. I have maybe a really stupid problem. When I select my desired adf file and click on save and restart, the system always loads the loader.adf.
Any hints for that situation?

Best regards

FD

Hi,
when I press a button the display show --- and when release the button it shows again 000.
Could I use the same floppy cable as used on a standard Amiga drive?

Best regards

FD

Being lost in the 15 pages here, I have a quick question.
Does this little beauty fits in an A500 or A600 (A1200) case? (both upper-top)
Thanks :)

It should fit but with the case closed but it will be harder to see the display or push the buttons. I haven't actually tried it.

I recently fitted one to my A500. It doesn't quite fit as a direct replacement. I fitted the bottom standoffs and side screw but the lid won't fit. What I had to do was move the drive back slightly so the lid would fit but also I had to raise the drive up so that the USB port, display and buttons were visible through the case slot. I didn't want to modify my case so that's why I did it that way.

I'd be interested to hear how others made it fit.

I just flashed one and put it in an A500 last night and I think I may just get some longer cables and run them out the floppy opening. You really do need access to the buttons. Otherwise it's great.

@Nobby_UK,

that's a very practical way of fitting the drive into a 500. I did the same with a 600, it is set back a little due to the top section being made that way. I also had to remove a little piece of the emulator (bottom left as viewed from the front) because of the locking tab on the case. I also removed some plastic from under the base of the emulator where the USB port is but that was not necessary because the emulator couldn't fit that far forward in the case due to the restrictions of the case shape. I also had to use a hot knife to remove some of the thickness of the top lid wall to allow the drive to fit.

Basically my effort looks similar to your own mod, the hole in the top casing looks much the same as mine. I was toying with the idea of putting some sellotape on the front of the emulator and then possibly using some coloured silicone sealant to fill the gap that is left in the case. As it isn't really on show, I haven't done that though. The sellotape or cling film idea was to stop the silicon from sticking to the actual emulator and could be removed when the silicon has cured.

The 600 I used is a very yellow one, I wasn't too concerned about the end results but the practical side of fitting the drive overcomes any problems of altering the case lid.

Just flashed my drive, wasn't too much trouble. Latest firmware installed and I guess I'll try it in the A2000 as it's currently shell-less anyway.

Any recommendations before I start loading a USB-memory with a bunch of adf-files? I guess I'll get a USB-DF1 as well as soon as I've seen this thing work.

I'd rather put the display, buttons and LEDs in a small box than cut the shell of my computer - in an A2000 it's not a problem though, but for the A600/A500. If the plastic case is removed the PCB isn't very large.
Maybe adding a DF0/DF1-switch and run a ribbon-cable through the disc slot isn't impossible... Needs four cables for display and probably just two for buttons as display likely has ground. Not sure LEDs will be needed outside, they could be visible in many other places.

Maybe a remote controller mod would be something... or maybe place two touch sensitive plates on the inside of the shell...
