Anyone had experience using GSP (Global Shipping Programme) through eBay?

I have my Amiga 1200 casing for sale on eBay with UK Mainland only shipping and an overseas member has bought it using the shipping programme to get around the UK shipping.

I have no issues shipping overseas but, upon looking up GSP I have read a couple of instances where the buyer reported to eBay they didn't receive the item and eBay simply refunded.

I know technically once the item has been signed for by GSP I have done my bit and a claim for "item not received" would not be valid but, having read the above has set off alarm bells.

Another concern is claims for damage. I would not be able to claim with Royal Mail if they delivered without any issues and the case was damaged by GSP.

Your thoughts?

Yes, they have been good for me - I have bought a few things including two A600 cases recently (UK->Australia). No issues, but I didn't encounter any scumbags either, you may not be so lucky.

I never ship stuff using the GSP. eBay is not an organisation I have any real faith with when it comes to their shipping program, to be honest.

Keep in mind that eBay will usually side with the buyer in case of any disputes - potentially leaving you out of pocket even though you have done nothing wrong,

My recommendation, use Royal Mail or courier with full tracking and insurance where necessary.

And always pack your item properly, especially if it is heading to another country!

They have been known to repack items into smaller/lighter packaging, I'm not sure if they still do but I know that caused my buddy a damage dispute because when the buyer sent the photos he could tell it wasn't how he had packed it.

I've bought a few things from Japan/US using the scheme and fortunately I didn't have an issue on those

If it is just the casing of the 1200 I would not recommend to send it anywhere without insurance.

I'm sure I read that once you've shipped your item to the GSP forwarding company (and it's been confirmed delivered) you are no longer liable for damage/loss.
Do I believe that? Nope.

Maybe yes, maybe no..
But if it is through GSP it is a bit difficult for the buyer to get the refund. It is the only case that eBay is not fully in favour of the buyer.

Thanks for the input guys. I have decided to cancel and refund the buyer. I will relist with an overseas shipping option (y)
