Hello Everyone,
I recently acquired my very first Amiga - an Amiga 4000/40 complete with mouse, keyboard and 1084S monitor. It also came with a Blue Ribbon Soundworks One Stop Music Shop Zorro II card with daughterboard and Vid24 image capture external peripheral. The original owner is an ex Pixar animator and he told me that they would use these machines to test out quick hand-drawn animations before animating on the computer.
When I was a child, due to my father's research work, we always had a PC in the house, however living in Italy at the time I was fascinated by the audio/visual capabilities of my friends' Amigas 500 and 1200. In the last few years I've become a bit of a collector of classic computers, especially palmtop computers of the 90s - I am fascinated by the miniaturization of the time. Recently, however, that nostalgia and fascination of the Amiga kicked in and I started looking for an Amiga near me and just the other week I found a good condition A4000D that had been in storage for over 10 years (no battery leakage because the battery had been de-soldered before going into storage). So now here I am trying to figure out how everything works and trying to slightly update the hardware and just have fun with it! I am so happy to have found this community.
Cheers,
Igor
