Help installing Dopus on my a500 (WB 3.1.4)

Hi there! Can someone help me install Dopus on my a500 running an aca500plus? I tried installing 4.12 and it’s telling me that it needs a 68020. I read that this should work with my a500. Help?

I downloaded the file from aminet.

A lot of version 4.12 archives won't work on anything less than the 68020. Try the following:

That's the full version of DOpus4.0 that was given away with the CU Amiga magazine back in February 1995, which should be perfectly fine on your ACA500plus.

Okay thank you. Another complication. I ran the dopus from the cover disk. First it told me that I needed explode.library. I figured that out. Now I am stuck here. Any ideas? I am running the cover disk on a gotek.

Are you seeing that message after you are attempting to run the Dopus installation file or straight away once The Disk-Masher software has finished?

Try renaming your new floppy disk to Copy_of_CU #100 and trying again.

I presume you will be installing Dopus to your Workbench CF card that is plugged into the aca500plus?

I think that I read something different this morning. Did you change your response? I think I read an email earlier today that had specific instructions for what to do. Maybe I’m crazy?

Anyway yes I just want to install dopus on my cf card.

I am seeing this message after I try to run what’s on the coverdisk adf. I think it’s after the Disk-Masher is done.

I am confused. What new floppy? The .adf I referenced above?

Have you only one floppy drive and when you removed the coverdisk to put the blank one in it needs the coverdisk back in to load something else ? I expanded the disk through Winuae, this is the adf from that archive

The A500 has the 16BIT 68000 CPU. The later versions of Dopus needs the 24bit/32bit 68020 CPU or above. Unless you have an accelerator in your A500 with a higher CPU, then the versions you have tried will not function as they are coded for a higher CPU. It’s that simple.

I understand. It’s just everywhere I checked it said versions of dopus 4 work fine on 68000

Hi there. Thank you for all your help. Yes the .adf seems to work. I never did get the coverdisk to work. However, I am not sure how to install your dopus.adf on the CF card of my aca500plus. Could you offer some instructions? Thank you again.

Easiest way is just copy the whole disk including hidden folders and files to whatever you want on your cf card. Best way is to copy files to the same folders as they are named to your system partition.

Thank you for the .adf and all your help. With a little fiddling with files, I was able to get it to work properly and in the correct drawers!
