Help with MMULibs installation - COPYFILES error on Line 1380

Hi all,

I received my BFG9060 a bit back and got a 68060 (with mmu/fpu) for my NTSC A3000D. I did a fresh install of Workbench 3.2 before starting, as I had my ZZ9000 installed before and I wanted to see how the system ran with just the BFG9060, and decided to start with a clean OS. The system's running 3.2.1 ROMs.

So Workbench 3.2 installed fine. I installed the BFG9060, opened Shell, ran "cpu" and saw it detected the 68060. CPU was getting reasonably warm after doing a few tasks, so I figured "Hey it's installed and doing something, huzzah!". No extra memory from the BFG9060 showed up (still showing about 1MB chipram and no other ram), but I figured maybe the MMU library allows for that.

I downloaded the latest MMULibs from Aminet, per the BFG instructions (version 47.6.2) and went to install them. During install, I received:

COPYFILES: Problem with source file/drawer in line 1380

Has anyone experienced this? Do I need to first install MuLib, or the mmu libraries from the workbench 3.2 install set? I'm unsure how to proceed, and looking at the Install script, I've never worked with this language, so it's a hurdle. Figured I'd ask first.

First things first…

Where have you unpacked the LHA package with the install files to?

To me it sounds like you may have a corrupted set of files perhaps Or something missing when installation begins?

Try unarchiving the lha file to RAM: And then try the install again. I always use the “Expert mode” on the install as this gives you an idea what is happening and will ask you if you want this that and the other to be installed.

It just goes to show how long it's been since I've done this. I ran out of space on my ADF I was using in the gotek, and ADFMaster didn't warn me. I made four floppy images with the contents of the archive and copied them to my ZuluSCSI HD (I didn't feel like mounting it in FS-UAE..I should've just done that). Now I run out of RAM when it tries to modify the MMU guide with the paths..but that's another story. I still don't see any additional RAM from my BFG9060, but I suspect after I get the mmu libs fully installed (I'll try expert, too, in case I can skip the step where it modifies the file) that may become a new thread.

Start from scratch with a full and completely clean install of OS3.2. Yes, that includes installing the MMULibs disk along with your OS3.2 too,

Since there is a possibility of running out of RAM, you should de-archive the MMULibs.lha file to an empty folder on your hard drive and install from there. It is safe to delete this folder once installation succeeds. But like @Boing-ball said, use Expert Mode during installation to give you more control over the process.

If you still get an install error as you describe in your earlier post then it is more than likely that there is a problem with the install script itself. In that respect you should contact Thomas Richter over on EAB with a request for his help. He is a very approachable person and will give you a more knowledgeable insight.

Thank you! I will give this a try. I have a feeling something else is going on with the machine, though, so I'm going to start a new thread on that, my findings, and where I'm at with troubleshooting. I think that needs to be ironed out first.

I’m just surprised you are running out of RAM though? Is this on a A4000? If so, have you not added the 16MB fastRAM to your setup? If only 2MB Chip is installed, then this is definitely where I would invest in. 2 8MB EDO 60NS simms or 4 x 4MB 60NS EDO sims are not that expensive.

Sorry for the delay in response. Work..ugh

Many updates and I think I'm all set now. This is a stock-ish A3000 with 2MB chip + 4MB fast. Turns out one of the ZIPRAM chips was slightly dislodged. Enough that it was REALLY hard to tell from a bunch of angles (and since I had most of the system apart for weeks, I'm surprised it took me so long to notice) and without the right lighting to make it apparent. Once I clicked it down into place, all my RAM issues seem to have disappeared and the system's been rock solid for the last few days. It must've occasionally not made contact on all the pins leading to system instability, not seeing the RAM installed (any of it) along with other issues.

Now that I have a functioning system again (RAM tests all come back OK, so, yay) I can figure out why my BFG9060 SysInfo speed test shows it as ~20% the speed of a stock A3000 (I get the expected results using the onboard 68030 16MHz CPU) and the RAM onboard the BFG isn't seen at all by the OS (but showing the board info it's reported as having 128MB...)

Back to the drawing board on that one!

I am just reading the BFG9060 install guide on its github repo, and it has the following:

Download MMULib from Aminet.Extract the archive, start the Installer, and choose the following installation options:

MuFastROM will henceforth accelerate your system even further by copying thecontents of your Kickstart ROM to the fast memory on your BFG9060.

does anyone know which exact install options are preferred / ideal here to accomodate the BFG9060 best?
