Hi from sunny Kent

Name is Ian, older than I care to acknowledge & an avid Commodore/Amiga fan since I was a kid. I've been around computers (both work & play) since I was at college ... they didn't have them in school (they started IT a couple years after I left). First exposure was a Research Machines 380Z.

First home PC was a Vic-20, which was sold to fund a 'breadbin' C-64. Replaced that with a C-128, then a C-128D until the day the Amiga was released. Then the bug really hit: Amiga 500, Amiga 1500, 2000 (yes, I know now ... :picard) & finally a 4000 which I still have (minus it's battery which I cut out as soon as I found out about them leaking). I also managed to pick up an Amiga 1000 @ a bankruptcy clearance when CBM went to the wall.

Retro-claim to fame (if there is such a thing) - I was a contributor to The Big Book of Amiga Hardware in that I provided them with the configuration details for the Z3 Fastlane - not a bad effort considering it was purely text-based. I no longer have the Z3, unfortunately.

Here mainly because I've been 'slumming' it with emulated ever since my 4000 was resigned to the cupboard when I relocated. I'd heard there were a couple of guys offering to service/re-cap Amigas & I'm looking to get mine out of the cupboard & back where it's supposed to be. That & once it is back up & running, I may well be looking to pour more money into it ;)

Hi and Welcome.

Pouring money into an A4000 hmmm,, that's not a new thing the ONLY reason why i don't have one :D

good luck and yes a re-cap is definitely a requirement, especially with the moody A4000's

plenty of members here who can do it, just put a request post in the appropriate forum and wait for the offers.

Hi Ian and Welcome..

I have lots of experience recapping amigas and would be more than happy to get your old girl back up and running again.

Bas :)

Hi Ian, it's always nice to see another Kent based enthusiast!
Just to say although there are a number of highly recommended individuals who will all sort your request out, Bas (the corfiot) did a range of things for me to my a 1200 including recapping it and did a great job.
Enjoy amibay!

Hello and welcome :)
That is a great collection you have.
I can highly recommend TheCorfiot.
All the work Bas has done for me has been great

Hello and welcome :)
That is a great collection you have.

It would be if I still had it all ... I only have the A1000 & the A4000 now ("The First & The Last", if you will). I sold the rest as I progressed through the ranks, so to speak. That said ... if I can still find it & it still works, you never know ;)

I can highly recommend TheCorfiot. All the work Bas has done for me has been great

Thanks for the heads-up (I think TheCorfiot also posted, thx) - I need to sort some stuff out first but I'm most definitely interested & will post accordingly when I'm good to go - I really don't fancy my pride-&-joy blowing up in my face ... I'm sure it's not that dramatic but, still.

It's also a little weird referring to a 25 yr-old computer sat in a cupboard as "my pride-&-joy" when I'm typing this on a state-of-the-art PC which, by comparison, is still in nappies & will last me a year, 3 at most ... just shows the impact Amiga had on me in it's day, I guess
