I'm a good boy.

Realising that all women have some inbuild urge to make a tidy nest I simply boarded the attic and attached pieces of wood to the roof structure to make long tables. Next I nicked a power feed from the 1st floor and extended it to a new socket in the attic. Result? I have a large spread of computer equipment all laid out ready for my sessions. And then to my right I have a repair table kitted out with a solderstation, multimeter, components etc for tinkering.

The missis never goes up there because of the constant 'threat' of spiders :D

I like

I wish I had an attic or a basement to use.

I definitely have too much stuff. The retro stuff in my signature may not seem that much but in addition I've got tens of Xerox boxes and banana boxes of comic books and a little over 200 Transformers figures, oldest dating back to 1986. The Transformers figures alone take about 20 banana boxes. Most of them are stashed down in the basement, waiting for me get some display cabinets and renovate the room to a hobby room.

I'm not sure about my "too much stuff".

I currently have:

- 17 Amigas
A500 units on various degrees of expansion, from mint to 2+9 RAM, SCSI & 010
2x A2000, both reasonably upgraded (030, SCSI, CD)
2x A3000 D, one is busted :(
1x A600 maxed out (still waiting some TLC as mobo died)
2x A1200 (plus a dead board), one 030/50+128Mb, other Mediator, 060, 128Mb (missing USB)

I swap the Amigas over the desk in a rotating base, so most of then get use. The only one with a permanent "sit" is the A3000 with its own VGA monitor.

- one C128 that never saw action in my home (other than turned on to check it's working)

- one Apple IIc laser (Brazilian clone, not used at all)

- one MSX Expert (working but not used)

- 3 2600 :shhh:

- 4 Master System (one of each model)

- and the obligatory peecee (three towers, one lappy)...

Those 'puters are in my man cave (I have a spare 18m² room for they) and I also have another spare 12m² room at the back of house to my, erm, junk...

I do wonder if a little more circumspection would help sometimes...

There's some tempting hoardes on here, and a trading site means it's quite easy to get someone's address...

I have Chuck Norris guarding mine

no ones got my address as i get deliveries to brothers or mothers so misses dont know

and mines watched 24/7 by cctv all doors and windows and main storage

Well, i only got a PSP, Xbox, PSX (first gen) and the A1200 in sign... And a few PC's. 4, i think, not counting the laptops.
But that wasn't why i posted in this thread, really.

AppleIIFan, you got some nerve. Should be ashamed. If you were a friend of mine, i'd denounce you. Suggesting that one can ever have to much stuff... I don't believe i even read that right. I'm not a leading contestant in the "he who has most when he dies, wins" but this has to be one of the most evil ways to try and get others out of the competition i've ever seen. Bah, have to much stuff. As if. ;- )

B!

I have too much stuff and it drives the wife mental! Years ago I didnt care at all and just kept aquiring bits or people used me as the local dumping ground for their old kit. I did very well out of this, more so when people started giving away amiga's. I had 25 a500's at one point lol.

I have tried hard to whittle it all down a bit but I never seem able to get rid of things. I will not chucked stuff, cant seem to sell it if I try or get all nostalgic and cant let it go. I want my sanity back and some space to move around. Currently feeling annoyed that I cannot have stuff setup properly. I have an STE and Spectrum +3 hooked up but not the c64 or amiga :(

Many moons ago I had a room stacked full of boxes of machines and games. But I never used most of it. I sold everything but my A1200 and CDTV, even though I didn't use them I couldn't part with them.

For several years i've had my retro fixes through emulation, but last year I got my A1200 and CDTV out of retirement and since then have started getting an appetite for retro gear again. But i'm really trying to control myself and restricting to only machines I will use. I got a CD32 which is great for just playing Amiga games quick and easy, and recently I got a Neo Geo AES and PC Engine GT.

I think limiting the machines I have makes me appreciate them more than if I had masses of machines all over as I used to. Well it seems to be working, but that hoarder in me still has wild ambitions to go nuts and buy a big pile again :D
