Hello everyone

My amiga 4000 start screen turn pink and nothing happen
I start turning red

It started few weeks ago, but every 10 times the amiga will boot and work perfectly

I order a new set of kickstart rom but it did not change anything

If I do control reset, rainbow color is coming but then back to the pink color

can you tell us your full setup?

have you tried your machine without any hardware in there?
i can only assume you have one of phase 5's cards?

well, you know its some kind of hardware problem.

Is it definitely pink, not red?
The reason I say, is that a red screen on bootup usually means corrupt or bad Kickstart ROM.

yes it's pink

This is my setup

Amiga 4000 with 3.1 rom
16 Mo RAM
scandoubler
Phase 5 Cyberstorm II + 128Mo
cybervision 64

To do the test, I removed all the cards except the scandoubler

I test also with a A3640 and I have the same issue

There is no Pink Boot screen colour code. Maybe its really Red and your LCD is not calibrated correctly?

Red = Bad ROM somewhere.

The only colours I know of are:

Good:

Dark Grey: hardware OK
Light Grey: software OK
White: Ready to boot

Bad:

Red: ROM error
Green: Chip RAM error
Blue: Custom chips error
Yellow: CPU error

so I check on a CRT monitor and I removed the scandoubler

it's purple

I read it may mean "bad rom", but if it's about the kickstart rom; I just changed them and it nothing better than this color happen

I'm missing something when we say 'bad rom"?

You could try replacing the capacitors, but it's not a guarantee it will work.

Is there someone in the US that repair A4000 motherboard?

I'm getting ready (within the next month) to do my first cap kit on one of my A4000D systems. If all goes well, I could work on it for you. My soldering skills are good and continuing to get better. :)

Still, you might be able to find someone in the USA who's already doing this kind of stuff faster than I'll be able to get to it.

Good luck!

Heather

If you are going to get a re-cap and need to find someone in the US, I had Uniserver do the work on my GameGears. He did a good job with fast turn around. I actually found him on a Mac Mailing list I was one a while back; didn't know he was a member here until later.

but I should be able to see the "insert disk" boot screen in this case?

no my buster is not socketed sadly (but at least a revision 11)

If you have the IDE cable plugged in the wrong way you can get a pink screen. Saw that once on my 4000T.
