Greetings, The intent of this thread is to gauge interest in the purchase of a Reamixx500 board.

The Reamixx500 board is the work of @SukkoPera. The details of his work on this project can be seen here at his github project page.

Moderators: I will gladly adjust this post to meet any and all rules that I may have overlooked. Please let me know if any adjustments are needed and I will promptly make corrections.

I am very new here, and do not have the requisite 200 posts to organize a group buy. I'm not trying to organize a group buy. Even if I met the requirements to coordinate a group buy, I think I would still prefer to do this the way I'm outlining here. I want to gauge interest in the purchase of a Reamixx500 board so that when I place an order for boards, I can appropriately size the order based on known interest.

Expressing interest here does not commit you to a future purchase. My initial order might not cover all interest. I do not want dozens of boards for myself and I realize people change their minds, that's OK. I only want one or two boards. But I'm frustrated with the tremendous markup on eBay. So, I thought I'd "give this a shot" and do my best to share the cost savings with the community.

I'm currently planning on ordering boards with a black solder mask and ENIG finish. If you would like a different color solder mask, you may include that in your response, but costs may be different (based on the size of a purchase), or I may not order boards in your preferred color. The single board cost on an order of 5 boards is approximately double the cost when compared to an order of 20 boards.

I'm anticipating a board being priced under $30 (USD) + shipping. Shipping overseas will be significantly higher than within the US. I don't intend on excluding anyone. The shipping overseas for a single board may be more than the cost of the board and it may be better for another user to organize a group buy in EU.
I'm not a maker, or seller. I've never sold anything on eBay. I'd say I'm an Amiga enthusiast, tinkerer, hobbyist, collector, procrastinator? (productive procrastinator).
If anyone has ANY tips on planning/organizing/estimating shipping, please post here or send me a PM. I signed up with pirateship but haven't explored much yet.
My responsibility: I will pay for ALL of the boards initially. Then I will list the majority of the boards for sale here on AmiBay. (within the intents and wishes of @SukkoPera)
I will track interest - I've already started a spreadsheet. I have one user interested in two boards to repair his son's damaged plus. He and I like the boards with black solder mask and ENIG finish. (I just received interest from a second user interested in 2-4 boards) I will post updates here regarding when I place the order for boards, when the boards ship to me, etc. Part of any profits here will go to a charity of SukkoPera's choosing and I will coordinate that appropriately.

Your responsibility: Well, there's no cost right now, and virtually no commitment. Post your interest here. Include solder mask color, quantity, shipping location (if different than that listed in your info). Then, when I list the boards for sale, declare your interest in the sale thread following the usual sales rules. If you change your mind, I cannot make you buy a board, and I'm not going to make a fuss about it.

Deadlines: Hmmm...I may need to adjust this as, or if, necessary. I'm not collecting any money from anyone right now, so, I'm not certain that a 'deadline' makes sense. Also, I'm not prepared to place an order for boards yet. (I won't go into all the details) The initial purchase cost of the boards is going to be completely on me. And I'll have all the "extras" that don't sell. I'll list the boards for sale in a proper sales thread after I receive them. An interested user has an event in April? and indicated that a couple boards may be used for door prizes, depending on cost. So, in their interest of getting boards into their hands in time for 2024 CLASS (Commodore Los Angeles Super Show 2024? 13-14 April)...

Please post your interest by 1 March 2024 and we'll go from there.

Cheers!

@jumper121 I had forgotten about the 200 post limit.

In this case I think we can relax this restriction as you are paying for all the boards and then listing them for sale in a sales thread.

Thank you! I hoped that the plan I outlined would seem reasonable. :)
If anything changes, please let me know. This thread will be a conversation, gauging interest, and the sales will occur in a sales thread.

As for the solder mask, I'd prefer blue or red. If it affects the order then I'm fine with black/whatever.

Also, pls be careful when you offer to buy all of the boards yourself. While I think Amibay users would eventually purchaser all of them, plan for some people to drop out after the order.

Thank you! Yes, I'm considering that. Even if I order only 5-10 boards in a particular color, I believe I will still under price people selling in other places. My "under $30 (USD)" estimate above is based on an order for 5-10 boards. I'll have the boards listed for sale until I sell out.

I was tracking you for 2-4 boards. What split on the colors are you thinking? (How many blue, how many red?) I will track this as your preference. ;)

Even though SukkoPera mentioned it, I'm reiterating it. This board requires an 8375 2MB Fat Agnus.

I think all of those DKB 2MB upgrades from 1990s just went up $50 in value :)

It is relatively trivial to add support for older Agnuses. If only people understood that "open source" means "please help improve" rather than "get rich with it"...

(Not a reference to this thread of course)

Greetings, I've placed the order for the Raemixx500 boards. Boards will be available in black or red when they arrive. I ordered 15 of each color. Members that have expressed interest via this thread will have their quantity of boards reserved for them (up to what I've ordered).

Please note, this is not a 'for sale' listing. When I receive the boards, I will post an appropriate thread in the sales area.

I also purchased some large (12.5" x 19") bubble mailers for protecting the boards during transit. The mailers add some padding, and weatherproofing.

Price will be $28(USD) per board, plus shipping. Payment via PayPal Friends & Family.
  • Estimated shipping for a single board within the US ranges from ~$5 - $9 depending on shipping distance and package weight. (I'm not exactly sure of the weight yet) (UPS Ground Saver, includes $100 insurance)
  • Shipping to Canada might be around $20. (UPS Standard, includes $100 insurance)
  • Shipping overseas is more expensive. Estimating a 2lb package (this is a high estimate I think): France is ~$27; Germany ~$27; UK ~$29. These rates do not include insurance.
Additional boards shouldn't increase the shipping very much; maybe an extra ~$2.

If you would like a more accurate estimate of the shipping rate, please send me a PM with your shipping info (City, State, Zip, Country) and I will look up the rates.

Cheers!

I've been thinking about this. In your estimate, what might this entail?

There are a fair number of different model Agnus chips. Are there just two different pinouts?

I ran across a Diet Agnus Adapter for adapting an 8372A to the 8375.

Will the current version of the Raemixx500 support the Agnus chips that have the same pinout? The chips that support 2MB chip RAM and some that support 1MB chip RAM? Wouldn't it be a matter of configuring the solder jumpers? Some of the details over at retrohax.net make me think this could be an option.

But, to add support for the 512K Agnus chips? It's been DECADES since I laid out a PCB. Even then, it was a SIMPLE single layer board for a college project (that needed a single bodge wire to jump a trace). :ROFLMAO:

Sorry for the delay, I have just added some more info about the compatible Denise and Agnus chips on the Wiki. Be careful that not all 8375 chips are compatible.

I haven't tested LIV2's adapter for the 8372 but it should work for 1 MB chip RAM (LIV2 is an excellent engineer). So that will also give a lot of hints about what needs to be changed on the Raemixx board to integrate 8372 support (and it should also work for 8375 318069-16 IIRC).

In the meantime, a nice guy named Richard Körber has also put together this great BOM, thanks!

Got the boards @jumper121? :)

I'm interested, if any left, in a black or red pcb (whatever is left), shipping to Belgium.

Greetings,
Boards are in hand. Thank you! @SukkoPera 🙂

I just took pictures and will be posting a proper sales thread today. I have to confirm some things in the rules here - mainly how I handle reservations. I'll update the Tracker in the first post of this thread to add @HomeLate and @DiskMaster.

@HomeLate I have enough boards, red or black, to cover everyone that expressed interest via this thread, or via PM. I also have extras of both colors.
