It is worth buying PS 4 Pro? I have seen the PS 4(Base) and PS 4 PRO on youtube when come comparing it and it doesnt look much different apart from higher framerate on PS 4 Pro.

PS 5? Sony will be showing E3 2019 of their machine showcase will have 10 teraflop !

If you want to play games on the PS4 and have a 4K TV definitely. If not, then definitely not. As far as I know Sony doesn't sell unannounced consoles.

What is exactly the big difference when you're playing with a PS4 or a PS4 Pro? 4K? Can you spot the difference very easy? All that stuff is each company's policy to take your money every six months (if you own already a PS4 in this example).

The system has a bit more power (GPU is upgraded, CPU clocked a bit higher) which makes it just fast enough for games to run in 4K, while at the same time it doesn't make the regular PS4 look obsolete. In 4K with HDR games do look stunning it has to be said. The unfortunate thing is you can't really show what it looks like on a non HDR display. I'd suggest to go into a store and see for yourself. Aside from this the pro is the system to go or if you want to run the PSVR, it really makes a difference in image clarity. Although I have to stress, all games, PSVR or not, run just fine on the regular system. If you're new to PS4 and still doubt, see if there's a bundle that fits your taste. I find that in general Pro bundles seem to be little more aggressively priced.

I have both the PS4 (day one release) and the PS4 Pro.

The PS4 Pro is technically much more powerful than the PS4.... however except for some slightly better frame rates you can barely tell with most games. Supposedly this will change in time as even though Sony will not allow exclusive PS4 Pro games, they are allowing developers to have extra Pro only features in upcoming games such as better lighting, better frame rates higher resolution, higher resolution textures etc... as of yet, there are only a handful of games with ANY Pro enhancements, and even those are very subtle.

HOWEVER, there is presently one more consideration - are you going to be getting the PSVR? If so DEFINITELY get the Pro. The Pro allows better head tracking, lower latency and lag (no getting nauseous), better draw distances etc. After using the Pro I could never go back to the base PS4 for VR.

If you are not planning on getting VR then you can either save your money and get the Slim, or if you want to future proof your purchase (planned games will look better on the Pro, if only slightly), spend the extra and get the Pro.

Still slower than my PC. Most disappointing PlayStation generation release. Especially as Tekken 7 is now cross platform.

Does every thread have to turn into a format war? OP didn't mention PC anywhere. Frankly I expect better from a mod.

I upgraded from normal ps4 to pro. It was worth it for me: there is boost mode which you turn on and older games that did not have stable framerate now have, there are games that get a "ps4 pro" update patches that leads to better framerates, there are games like Horizon Zero Dawn, Tombraider etc that have more detailed graphics and/or option to select performance or visuals, there are games like Nioh that offer 60fps... what I mean is that the pro is an upgrade that if you care about performance/visuals is a no-brainer to buy if you can afford to do so.

Remembering that PC hardware is inherently handicapped by it's OS and hardware abstraction layers.... so to perform at the same level it must be considerably more powerful to begin with.

Consoles are designed with a streamlined OS and geared 100% towards game performance, where as PC's come with a much larger/bloated OS that is geared towards being a full OS and supporting many things, not just gaming. This coupled with the fact that consoles use a standardised hardware platform and so do not require the hardware abstraction layers required on PCs means that a console that is considerably lower powered in raw hardware performance can meet and even exceed the gaming performance of the more powerful PC.

As a console generations life moves on more and more powerful PCs are released and eventually, even with the handicaps, they will outperform the highly optimised consoles, but assuming a PC will out-game a console simply because it is x% more powerful is simply folly.

I have a ps4 and a ps4 pro (and PsVR). I got a last years samsung 8 series and the pro is amazing on that.

The Pro is totally worth it if you have a 4k HDR TV and/or PSVR. I originally upgraded my PS4 to the Pro for the PSVR enhancements which really do improve the experience in a number of games, since i have also upgraded to a 55" HDR 4K TV and the 4K compatable games looks stunning. I sold my og PS4 for £180 with a few old games so the upgrade didnt actually cost that much anyway.

I've never really understood the whole PC/Console debate, a decent GFX card for an already adequately specced PC costs as much as a console on its own. If you must have the best possible graphical fidelity and 60+ FPS you must use a PC, but its still the same game underneath all the glitter and im sure you get 99% of the same enjoyment in 1080p @30FPS as you do at 4k @60FPS.

For me console = exclusive games , that's the whole point of getting yet another platform. No matter what pc you have you can't play bloodborne, uncharted, horizon etc and if you are a gamer you are missing out hands down. That forces you to invest in several platforms but that's a discussion for another time

I was underwhelmed by the pro. For £350 its a stop gap until manufacturing technologies and economies of scale catch up to true 4k at affordable prices. If you buy the pro expecting native 4k you'll likely be disappointed as few titles support this and most are upscaled, even fewer support 60fps at this resolution which to me is important. True next gen should be targeting 4k 60fps IMO.

My recommendation is if you already have a PS4 stick with it. Or if your new to playstation try to pick up a nice used pro example. These can be had for around £250 on ebay and make much more sense than paying Sony asking price.

I never get the arguments of cost when it comes to PC gaming. Put simply, if you want the best fidelity in gaming then it's going to cost.
I mean, I drive a Ford Focus ST. On the roads it's a beast, and is fairly cheap to buy pre-owned. But on the motorways it's out of it's league and playing with the big boys, the Merc AMGs, the BMW M3/M5, the Audi RS3,5,6. And if you want that power then you got to pay for it.

Same with TVs. Don't baulk at paying £400 for a PC gfx card, then go out and buy a £600 4k TV for your PS4 Pro. Especially when your Pro isn't doing native 4k unlike my PC. Your Pro is mostly rendering 1440p then upscaling to 4k using checkerboard rendering. Looks great, the technique is almost voodoo-like, but it's not 3840 x 2160.

Personally, for current-gen, I game on PC, PS4, Xbox One. Can't go wrong with that combo.

It's the age old argument of waiting. There is always something new around the corner.

Just want to play games and have a hdtv then get a ps4. Want some future proofing and ate considering going 4K then buy a pro.

Keep waiting and the next one is always just round the corner.

I think next year, Xbox one X will help the PS 4 PRO and should be able see graphics different than Base PS 4. So far, PS 4 PRO had sharper graphics on some games and is that Disappointing?

I am sure person who OWNED PS 4 Pro should Expect MORE even thought Sony biggest mistake was they should wait one year and release on last October like More Ram(12GB Ram) and better GPU(Like the XBOX ONE X).....

Let see how goes for next year or so :)

As with all technology, I'd you keep waiting for the next big thing there will always be a bigger thibk next year so you never got anything.

Of course games that take advantage of the PS4 Pro will probably look better as developers have had a whole year longer with the hardware.

These days toy can't base a buying decision on hardware specs, as you did in the old days. Hardware is much less limiting to developers. You have to base it on the content each has, as well as which hardware and controllers you prefer.

Personally I think the PS4 has a much stronger category. And to show hardware spec isn't everything, the Nintendo Switch is starting to look like a great system from gamers and after the disaster of the WiiU Nintendo are back with a winner.. but only if you like Nintendo first party games.

Would be cool if they made it possible to play ps1-4 games on it aswell! And get rid of psnow haha. I think the menu system needs to be more tidy. With the thought of systems coming up on kickstarter that will play a variety of older pstation games why don't sony just make the best one and domibate the market? They could call it psgenarations or something?

Yes another feature they removed which IMHO was a great feature I'm lucky to have a custom firmware Jap PS3 console so I'm fully Backward compatible I'm just gutted the haven't done the same on the PS4

I have both the Original and the Pro and I agree if you ain't got one go for the Pro if you have the 4K TV to play it on
