So we're all familiar with old green monitors that only output green not color.

And we're all familiar with scanline generators that emulate scanlines when using a retro computer with a modern flatscreen.

But is there such thing as a green picture generator that converts a color COMPOSITE picture into green for display on an HDMI TV?

I made one for myself many years ago for my Amstrad, but I don't think anyone has ever commercially offered them.

How did you do it?

One thing someone suggested was take the composite out of the Apple into only the green pin of a SCART or RGB cable plug. That way all spectrums go to green. Would that work do you think and how does it compare to your method?

Similar, but I was doing it for an Amstrad CPC with RGB, so I mixed the three colours (with variable resistors to fine tune the effect) and fed them to the green input of the SCART. However, to get the right green (pure green looked too green) I later biased in some red and blue to tune the colour tone. I had intended adding an Amber option later, but I never got around to it. Maybe I should make one up again, but I have a 1084 with green button, so I don't really need one.

Yeah I have the green button 1084S-D1, but want to go to the XRGB Mini for my flatscreen, with the mini's built in scanline generator.

What would be a good place to start in deciding which resistors to order to experiment with? If you would be so kind as to prepare a very brief shopping list, I'll get ordering and let you know the results! ?

I'll see if I can find the device or the schematic later this week. If there was enough interest, I could probably run off a batch of them.
