I just got a dataflyer 500 with ram expansion off evilbay, I still have to test it when I get home. My question about it is this.
The card was available in SCSI/IDE/IDE&SCSI.

My card is the ide version.

The Card has all components except for the scsi chip itself (5380) and the cable for an external cdrom.

Has anybody here ever tried to just install the chip and enable scsi?
It's already has the pin header for the external scsi and the internal 50 pin header is there also.

The chips are available and pretty cheap.

My advice is 'don't get hungry': sake your appetite. :)

Put a 53C80 on the empty slot and see what happens. You'll not break the card if the SCSI part don't show up. Use a socket, of course.

There is already a socket, and scsi terminators. The only unpopulated socket on the board is the scsi chip.
