Look, I made something - 3D printing for Checkmate 1500+

I've put my A1200 in a Checkmate 1500+ desktop case like I've shown earlier on this site.

But it came with a problem. My OmniPortEx and Delfina 1200 card had no place to securely mount.

Neither did my Freeway CP, but you can see I just stripped it to it's PCI backing plate which works just fine.

The way to my goal had ofc some testing and failed prints.

FreeCad has a real steep learning curve, bad error messages and plenty of bugs. But I cracked the code during this project and feel like someone flicked the light switch.

It's not perfect, it has a few bugs this bracket, but it's "good enough" for now. I'll come back and fix it later but I've got two Amiga projects at least that needs sorting out before that.

Awesome, well done!

I am terrible at CAD but my son showed me how to use Tinkercad (online), which is literally made for children and is good enough for simple jobs. I have yet to make something Amiga related but motivated to do so now.

Do consider uploading the STL files at Thingiverse (or similar), you may help out others.

I was thinking that it's too niche.

I've shared pictures of it in the Checkmate discord, but no one asked for it. Got two appreciations though.

If I share it there's two "bugs" I need to fix in it. One is that the one support for the Delfina is too low one side, and the other bug is that one of the screw holes for the OmniPortEX was off center by almost a millimeter.

If anyone asks I'll share the model via GitHub with them so that they can fix it, export to a sliceable format and then enjoy it.

I'm quite sure I'll get back to it, but before that I'll have to address the fact that my floppy drive is too low for the default setup in the Checkmate case, I need to rise it up a few mm, so that's another 3d print.

Then there's the SUM A1200 adapter, the one I threw together was too thin, so it bends just from the weight of the USB plug. I taped it to keep it together a bit, but it's a mess.

And I think that I'll design a face plate for mounting a momentary switch in, I needs physical reset switch since there's a bug somewhere in the system when the SUM A1200 and a PiStorm are supposed to work together.

So there's plenty to do in this hobby of ours...
