Watermarking a video of a 25 year old commercial... really?

Great video ,so naff!
Please don't watermark your videos,it's very distracting, and spoils the vintage authenticity.

if people did not steal my videos i would not have to watermark. it costs a fortune to acquire the tapes and to keep the vcr's in working order. the tape this was on was a rare v2000 vcc format compact cassette. just dont like when people take credit for my work. takes a day or more to find and edit and restore even small clips.

Did you pay for the commercial to be made originally or hold the rights to it? If not I think it's ridiculous to talk about credit for something you did not create to begin with regardless of what it took to digitise it. How can something be stolen from you that you did not own to begin with? it's not like other people using it is depriving you of any income as you cannot sell it.

So Crack intros on Amiga floppy's are a bad thing and the guys who worked for the crack group who worked there ass off so the young you could play demos and backed up games on you amiga deserve no credit for there work and dedication to the amiga seen.

Its the same thing i worked my ass off and the pay off is a hardly noticeable water mark with my aka name.

Nice video, but the watermark bugged the heck out of me. put a intro or outtro on it instead. watermarks are fine as long as they are the invisible encoded stuff like digimarc on images or in worst worst case a logo in a corner or somewhere OUT OF SIGHT.

Fantastic video. Regarding Watermarks, intros can be removed in seconds, watermark is fine with me, but it should be as subtle as possible so as not to disturb the viewing, just enough to prove ownership.

Bryce.

Cool video, bit too much processing to my taste, it looks so blurred out.
If you ever need some VCC digitized (without the processing) you can always contact me, this system is not rare at all where I live, I have tons of them. Tapes and recorders that is.

Ha, I watched it twice before reading this thread and never even noticed the watermark! Then watching it again, it's fairly obvious but unless you were planning to use the video without crediting 2ombieboy, I don't think anyone should be annoyed by it. If his work was so valueless, try finding an un-watermarked copy...

dont suppose you got a working Phillips n1500 or a 1502. i have tapes but no player. also ssoot me over some sugestions how to improve my picture as i would love to be able to make my content better.

I don't know how you are capturing now, but if it's anything USB; that could explain the washed out look. The way to go is with a firewire DAC, but that comes with it's own problems, you also need a frame synchroniser (or TBC) if it's not included in the DAC (most of them don't have it). The best way to improve is to use this firewire DAC and a high end recorder with TBC/DNR built into it (you'll still need a frame synchroniser or separate TBC though). They can be found in thrift stores for no too much money most of the time.

At the moment I don't have a 1500, but I do have the 1700 long play version. VCR is a really difficult format as the tapes were really crappy built.

I would love to find UK tapes of the BBC micro series or the Micro Live or the Micro series from Channel 4. Only found pretty small sized video rips online.
