Get back to your colour clash graphics and beep beep sounds mr speccy owner :p

sinclair zx spectaculum eram a magnus congeries of dogs nuntius quod haud erroris!

ZX Spectrum has the AY chip so its not beep beep lol

Thats how much you know :p

Guys, before anyone's feelings get hurt, remember it is just friendly banter between enthusiasts. ;)

Besides the Beeb was easily the biggest, and would squash the puny speccy without even noticing.

We know, just yanking his chain a bit :)

Even the 2 sounds when the BBC is first switched on is superior to the speccy lol

LOL..... it would seem that 6502 fanboi's travel (and hunt) in packs LOL!

Personally, if we look at the plethora of software the Specky wins hands down, if we look at sales the C64 wipes the floor in terms of computers (actually the Amstrad CPW was the most sold 8bit computer)

The CPC and CPC+ range are the most logical extreme of a Z80 computer, where as the Spectrum was perhaps the cheapest thrill.

I love the Specky, I lost my soul to this machine when I was young.... but I lost my heart to the Amiga, and while I flirt and fancy with CPC's and 64's..... I am always back to the Miggy / Spectrum =)

I have heard that the c64 has the best brown, if that helps. :)

Really?

Not familiar with the Amstrad line, being on this side of the pond..
According the the fountain of all knowledge :-), wikipedia (I know):

Wikipedia said:
When the PCW line was retired in 1998, 8 million machines had been sold.[17]
Compared to:
Wikipedia said:
During the C64's lifetime, sales totalled between 12.5 and 17 million units, making it the best-selling single personal computer model of all time.[5][6]

Impressive numbers for the PCW line, either way..
We're so insular here.. I had no idea they were that popular...

I have heard that most C64 owners claim that Brown is the new Black

Well maybe our English and American friends can actually "get the pic" completely, but i immediately wondered why the Speccy question?
I've known it as a Speccy for decades, reading about it in the early 80's magazines like Your Computer, Sinclair User etc. Hasn't occured to me that it was a female-gender nick they gave it, but still the Zee Ex was my first 'puter and will always remain a special part in my memory bank. We can all call it whatever, but aging has not affected its black tone a single bit.
AVE SPECTRUM!

ha ha your so funny NOT !!! ;)

Even my humble Amstrad CPC 6128 is far better in sound. :p

Lets see

well, yes. :)

What is best, speccy bleep bleep or ted's bleep bleep?

however the speccy 128 sounded a bit better,

You should listen to the news stuff like in the demo scene as they are using Amiga style tracker music on an unexpanded 128k which sounds amazing. Also I never said the spectrum had the best sound that belongs to the C64 and always will as i love the sid chip.

The chip in the amstrad cpc also makes some great chip music. I love chip music and always will be it c64, spectrum or cpc it dont matter to me.

AS for games well they all got there good and bad games every system has but i feel the spectrum in terms of graphics has slightly better in terms of detail. For colour I think thats the cpc with its awesome colour pallet.

As its been stated c64 has loads of shades of brown lol but it would still used to great effect in many games.

I just prefer the spectrum although I intend to own the cpc and the c64 along with my grey +2 to get a vast array of different gaming and to teach my kids about the awesome 8bits.

Situation Normal

Oh dear, just stumbled onto this thread
So what have we got here?
Debates in latin, arguments over beeps, arguments over naming conventions. Situation normal then for Amibay!

Honestly, with all these Vaders, Woodys, Speccys, Miggys, Breadbins, Beebs, Est Tees, Falcons, SNESs, Em Dees, Em Esses and goodness knows what else you all have laying about, it's a wonder you crazy guys can find the time to debate these issues :p

Still an awesome thread though! ;)

not me... Imma innocent .... ish.... ;)

@mocar

Best sound - C64
Best Graphics - CPC / C64
Most Prolific - Spectrum
Cheapest System - Spectrum

As a gaming platform the Sinclair Spectrum is pretty dire compared to either of the above systems - however thats where the cost comes in, you have to think for a moment the Spectrum didn't even have a Joystick port (as standarad) untill 1986! thats over 4 years past its launch!!!

And it only got that because of the 128k machines!

I love the Spectrum, but I am not so blind as to see its short commings - and as a contraversial statement, I dont see sinclair as all that clever to be honest - infact, I would virge on the statement of him being a dumb-a$$

Welsh is a much closer relative to latin than any other language,
i could start naming examples but il just spout out a couple..

you have ffenestr window vs the Latin fenestra,
lead the metal in welsh is "plwmb" and in latin it's "plwmba" (or Pb on the periodic "easy to remember because its 1st and last letter")
Infact lots of the latin preiodic metals can be rememberd easily in welsh because the language is so close, an eample of this would be gold "Au" or the welsh word for gold.. "Aur"
Galic however is mopre related to the germanic "gauls" this is what the irish would speak.. and welsh is nothing like galic and galic is totaly incomprehendable to me lol.
the english picked up a bit of everything Kind of a medieval esperanto. like piws is welksh for purple, and a very welsh sounding word which crops up in english as a shad of pink.
What ever you may belive about the spelling and so on regarding english It is undoubtedly a very powerfull means of communication.

P.S
"i prefer the c64 to a spectrum, and a ST is better than c64"
