I guess if you buy it, and get good results from whichamiga then we'll have at least one reliable sale to judge that seller by! I don't trust any eBay seller for chips unless they are showing actual output, and I don't trust eBay feedback either - it's incredibly hard to leave bad feedback. Also I don't know what eBay would do about it if you found your rev 6 was really a rev 1.

Here's a page about 68060 with that same fake mask code: https://www.exxoshost.co.uk/atari/last/CT60/fake/index.htm

Hi,

I bought two pcs from this seller and both are rev.6

regards
Tomek

Thanks for the replies. I'm aware of the article Aeberbach has cited. Also, unfortunately it seems that some vendors mix genuine dies with fakes, but it seems like this one has a pretty high success ratio. I'll risk it and report how it went.

I also have 2 genuine Rev. 6 from that source. One is running at 72 MHz on my CSPPC and only gets lukewarm.

The other is in my Blizzard 1260 @66 MHz.

Aside from being obvious Rev. 6 because of that, both show Rev. 6 in whichamiga.

Any joy with the 68060? I took the plunge on 68030/8882 from that seller, yet to arrive.

Drat those festive packages clogging up the post at this time of year! Humbug!

Still waiting for it to arrive. I'm going to test it and give update as soon as I have my hands on the CPU.

Seems like the MC68030RC50C is genuine, I am happy. Now just waiting on my 128MB RAM and my Microbotics MBX1230XA is maxed out.

I received mine today, unfortunately it seems that my A3660 is broken. It refuses to boot with it's original CPU, I need to diagnose and repair it. It's the only 060 hardware I currently own that has the CPU socketed so I can't test the chip at the moment :(

It's suspicious that a E41J chip has S23328-002 engraving so I don't have my hopes very high. If someone in London would like to help with testing I can bring the chip over.

I managed to test the CPU on a custom industrial computer board, since my A3660 is still a no-go. Querying the PCR succeeds and yields 04300602, which is the expected value for Rev6 MC68060. I have no way to test it's frequency tolerance as the board has IC clock generator that can't be easily swapped. But it seems that the CPU is legit after all.

Can also confirm the one I purchased from this seller was a Rev 6

mine was actually a Freescale Version

Forgot to add; the pins were a little bent out of alignment took forever to line it all up for the CSMKII Socket

I just got one from funkward-tech also.

I liked that it doesn't look too fresh, green/gold dot, part number and batch code in different color ink, S23328-002 almost impossible to see (which is why the picture is from this angle). If this is a fake the printer should maybe get to work on some banknotes, if they want to do counterfeits - the logo is spot on and the part number even has the tiny break in the top of each 0 character. I would love to see some pictures under a microscope.

I don't know if it's fake or real, I have nothing to check with right now. I thought funkward_tech was OK based on having bought a genuine 68030RC50C months ago. It was a bit of a gamble sure but with parts getting more scarce it is only going to get worse as three 68060 accelerator cards get released this year.

Well, that one looks a lot better than the one I got, and looks to be a proper Rev. 6, but I'm sure someone else can advise soon.

Compare to what I got:

Wow that is really totally different - not shoddy printing but very different! I wonder if the difference is that I emailed at the time of buying and reminded that I had bought before, and was happy that the 030 CPU I previously bought and tested immediately on receipt was genuine?

@austinsom that really sucks :( Hopefully you're able to get a full refund from them.
@Aeberbach I'm almost scared to ask, but do they counterfeit 030s as well? :O

Absolutely they fake 030s - 33s or 40s marked as 50, and revs A or B marked as C commonly!
