I wish to rant about this product. Specifically, I wish to rant that Elbox don't make it!

So many variations on the Mediator busboards. A4000D in the normal case or in a tower, A3000 in a tower case, A1200 in a tower case. Even a version for the Winner Z4 busboard, but A3000 in its original desktop case? Nada!

:overactor:

I'd have to agree... it's a pity that A3000D users have to either stick with either Prometheus and custom mods... or mediators in custom Towers.
An 3000Di would be such a kick a$$ product...
Then again so could a special GREX 3000 :P

Should be, "I wish to rant about the fact that Elbox doesn't make it."

Are you picking holes in my grammar again? :p

"Doesn't" implies 3rd person singluar. "Elbox is a company that doesn't make a Mediator 3000Di", this is grammatically correct American English.

"Don't" implies 3rd person plural. "Elbox are a company that don't make a Mediator 3000Di", this is grammatically correct British English.

Therefore I'm right and you're right!

Interestingly, the "is/are" debate for collective nouns caused one of the lamest Wikipedia edit wars: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Lamest_edit_wars#Wording

Or in the Queens English:

"One would like to complain that Elbox fail to provide us with the Mediator for our beloved A3000's"

I don't think a 3000di is an option, the heat is the biggest problem.

Amiga-Digital made 2 extra holes and fans in his 4000D to cool the 4000di with Radeon and also had a Cyberstorm MK I 060 in it.

I think the tower versions are great, but the come so rare in availability and usually when you don't have the cash for them.

From Wikipedia:
"The point of contention? Whether "Angels & Airwaves" is a band or "Angels & Airwaves" are a band. (British English requires "are," as the band comprises multiple people, while American English requires "is", as the band is a singular entity.)"

"Is" seems totally wrong to me. It's definitely "are".
Sorry if there's any USA citizens reading this.... but you're wrong!

Where does one get a tower case for an A3000D ?

Elbox made a Mirage 3000 tower, which presumably is designed to go with the Mediator 3000D. Micronik also made one which is probably compatible. Or you could bodge the whole lot into a PC case.

But why would you want to? All the tower cases for A3000s (including the genuine C= A3000T) are butt-ugly, whilst the low-slung A3000 desktop case is one of the most beautiful Amigas out there!

Interesting! It seems i am writing (and speaking) American English, even though i've never been to the USA but visited several times England, Scotland and Eire.

You can blame American TV shows for that!

I saw a post on a1k.org today about that demand!!!
http://www.a1k.org/forum/showthread.php?t=39442

Hello,

As for now there are two possibilities for using Mediators with A3000 motherboard.
1. You can use Mediator 3000D but it requires towerising your A3000 or
2. You can install Mediator 3/4000T in your A3000D - the problem is that he case of your Amiga have to stay opened then.

If it is more people interested in Mediator 3000Di solution we can consider designing the ZIII/PCI daughterboard for A3000D. What do you think about the demand for such Mediator model?

The difference between Mediator 4000Di and Mediator 3000Di would be one PCI slot less as the 4th PCI slot would not fit in A3000D case.

Best regards,
Support Dept. of ELBOX COMPUTER

If they proceed with the manufacturing there would be exciting times for A3000D owners!
I'd surely was going to buy one if I had an A3000 :)

That's excellent news! I would certainly be very keen to get one for my A3000! I hope they do make one!

Well why not turn this rant into a genuine interest, make a poll on it, then Elbox can also see how many people are interested.

I try to learn the rather subtle (and probably insignificant) differences by watching British TV shows from time to time but it's no help at all to hear bad English spoken with a profoundly British accent! (I ain't joke'n mate)...:D

P.S. When you send people to far away colonies you should have some practical expectations of them. (Maintaining the Queen's English not being one of them). You can't even keep the Scots, Irish, Canadian's and Australian's in line but you want to correct bad American English?

Bad written Engrish annoys the hell out of me. OK, some people like to talk 1337, but one cannot use plain English, FFS?

Putting the thread back in the rail, I'll love an A3000Di daughter card!

I saw in the thread of the Mediator 3000Di over a1k.org the following reply:
Great News :)

Hello,

We just started to design the PCI/Zorro daughterboard for A3000D.

Fun times ahead for A3000D owners :D

Wow... That is in deed cool for them. Now they can also be frustrated by Elbox customer support :-P
