Totally agree. I was on an unstable 5Mb connection before, with some noise at times dropping the connection. Total line distance to the exchange, plus noise on the line and line quality all affected the speed you achieve.

On fibre there is no noise to the cabinet, so only the final stage from the cabinet to the house has any issues.

And yes, it is amazing downloading from steam at 9-10MB/s.

Just think, some day in the not too distant future we will have 1Gbps connections and be scoffing at 10MBps.

The way UK telecoms upgrade their infrastructure most well be waiting more then a little while, although I was really surprised when where I live received FTTC before many other areas of the UK.
