Hi Chaps

My favourite Amiga of all time is the CDTV and Ive been wanting to upgrade it as much as I could and make a WHDload machine. Ive always liked the stock look so I didn't want to make it so the lid doesn't close or I have to chop or slice the nice case.

Its quite hard to find all the bits but it is now finally complete:)

What I have done:

1. Upgraded the 680000 processor with a 68010 Ceramic and Gold. This allows me to use the quit key in WHDLOAD and gives a slight boost.

2. Upgraded the CHIP RAM to 2MB using a megachip and 2mb Fat Agnus.

3. Added 4mb Autoconfig Fast RAM into the expansion connector.

4. Upgraded from OCS for ECS using Super Denise.

5. Installed a CFI IDE adapter which is slim enough to allow me to close the lid. This adapter has the CF connector attached and fits directly into the processor socket.

6. Installed a CF card with WHD load and nice library of games:)

7. Added a 1.3/3.1 custom kickstart with manual switch.

8. Added a CDTV joyport adapter as the CDTV doesn't have standard joystick ports.

9. Swapped the top lid for a new old stock CDTV top lid.

10. Made a custom expansion cover to house the joyport sockets and switch. (This is temporary until I get my metal one made).

11. Upgraded odd even roms to 2.70

I have also got the CDTV Trackball which allows you to connect 2 joystick to the CDTV. I even have the special cable so you don't have to use it wireless.

I have the CDTV mouse in mint condition

A new old stock CDTV infra red remote controller

A black CDTV Disk Drive

A CDTV Keyboard with black keys

I have a wanted thread for a CDTV monitor however in the meantime I am using a very special Sony TV that has a playstation 2 built into the base. It matches the CDTV perfectly. (I will do a separate photo thread as it quite a rare item that was only sold in the UK for a very short while).

Hope you like the pics:D

Looks very nice.
Did you have the top cover painted?

The top cover is new old stock so it is brand new:)

Thanks guys for your responses. Im still looking for an infra red mouse as well.

Im also thinking of getting Kipper PS2 gamepad adapter so that I can easily swap between the PS2 mode on the tv and my amiga as and when required.

I must say, very nice setup you have here.
beautiful it is

sony tv was a good solution, it all looks even better and more timely with it, I think

I know that cover! That was the very last one I had for sale. Glad you snatched it and could add the finishing touch to this awesome system. Now you have a setup worthy even of my office at the death star..:cool:

Lovely stuff!

I had a CDTV back in the day! Around 1996/7 with:

Black keyboard
Mouse
Disk drive
Brickette joystick adaptor
Spare caddies
All boxed.

But there was one flaw on mine! one of the buttons, think it was the power button? Had broken one of its stalks (The button would no longer sit flush or work) So I had to strip the front fascia off and then bodge it. I did the best I could at the time. God knows where that cdtv ended up!

It past into a few hands and remember crossing paths with it again a few years later. If anyone ever got a cdtv with a bodged button let me know! it could well have been mine lol

I really did like that system, but the lack of upgrades really put me off so ended up selling it :(

Thanks for your nice comments.

Very similar to my CDTV

Mine has Elbox memory expansion 8mb and SCSI2CDTV with a CF adapter.
I also have a CDTV monitor, I'm using it with my A500 Black Edition

Where did you mount the cf card? Is the extra port on the back for an external drive.

Nice!

the cf card adapter attached to the cpu socket is interesting!

Did you make that yourself or buy it?
