Over the past months, i've been packaging and moving all my handhelds and consoles to a storage unit.
Sad sad sad, as i would much rather keep them hooked up in my apartment, but reality check #1204 made me conclude it was really getting too small and crowded.

Here's the whole lot of them tucked away in storage:

On the bright side, i did get a chance to finally picture them all, and i've used a free online tool to create a quick slideshow of all the goods. Brace yourselves for 40 handhelds and 90 consoles in 6 minutes:

Wow. That's amazing. I hope the storage unit is climate controlled. :)

I could not sleep at night if my retro collection was in a storage unit somewhere  I have to sleep in the same room as mine :)

I had some trouble with it at first, but the result in the apartment (an actual space to live in now ;) ) is great. Still looking to move though, i must get myself that long awaited game room soon!

Arent those plastic tubs useful! They must have been designed for hoarders.....cough cough...collectors :)

Ahhh yes, I know that pain well. When we built the new house 6 years ago I had the office and three of the bedrooms re-assigned to "computers/consoles on display and use" and "computers/consoles in storage" as 6 bedrooms is overkill for myself, my wife and our daughter. At the time I had roughly 300 systems...

...6 years later I am well over 400 systems... and have run out of storage space. We are currently tossing up whether to get a 40' insulated shipping container put on our block (1.25 acres so plenty of room) or.... reassign the guest house..... which my wife has assured me will result in "severe marital issues"... ahem.

Oh, but I learnt one valuable lesson - don't use GameTrader bags to wrap your stored items...... they are biodegradable..... what a mess they caused...

Wow mate. That's quite a collection. Glad to hear you'll keep an eye on the climate in there. I'm sure they'll be fine tho. I think you need to open your own museum.

Yessum, UV light, moisture, salt and heat are our enemies.... and their forces are strong and mysterious..... :)

I can only have about 50 or so systems set up at a time (space and power outlet constraints!), but I slowly rotate them around. I have a lot of double ups of the more common items such as C64s, Vic 20s, Ti99s, Spectrums, Amstrad CPCs, Amiga 500/600/1200/2000s, Megadrives, Snes, NES, Atari Lynx etc. Less common items such as Vectrex, Amstrad Plus, C128s, CBM Pets, TRS 80 Model 4s, PC Engine Shuttles, Atari Jaguars, Neo Geo CDs/CDZs, Sega Wondermegas etc I usually have two (one as a backup). The more unique/rare items such as PC Engine LT, FM Towns Marty/Marty II, SX64, Panasonic Q, A4000T, X68000 etc I only have one of.

Still, the numbers add up quite quickly. My only real want now is for a couple of truly rare systems such as a C65 (dreaming of course, but you never know), Microbee Gamma (again, dreaming) or a Sega Neptune (I have a replica being built for me by a fellow in Greece at the moment).

Nick Marentes, known in Color Computer/TRS 80 circles for some great games he wrote in the 80s and 90s, has visited my collection a couple of years ago and wrote a brief report on it, I dont think you are allowed to include weblinks, however if you Google "Steven Speziali Dalby" you will get the link - shows a few photos of some of the systems I had set up at the time.

...now, whilst on the subject...... anyone have a C65 for sale? ;)

Well Soeter04! Very well packaged!
My rented van should arrive tomorrow or monday.

Thank you!
:p :p :p ;)
