Well its been a while but have a little update to this project. My buddy mfilos sent me a 40mhz rated 030 CPU so I could have another go at overclocking the ACA630, first thing I dont was remove the Heatsink :butcher

And some goodies to go on :)

Popped her back in the A600 with nice shiny new CPU:

And, hmm - lets try a slightly quicker X-Tal :D

Not bad eh :thumbsup2:

I wouldn't call it a sucess though since it only boots sometimes if you clock over 27.5mhz, mosty just Guru's so I guess thats why Jens only done a handful of the 30mhz units...

So I'll be sticking to 27.5mhz which is a 10% boost and 100% reliable. For some reason it wont boot at all with 60mhz X-Tal (30mhz clock)

Still - fun times

Very nice!

I think I need to import me an A600 next as it would be great to have on the desk next to the A1200.

That is bad luck mate. I had a complete rebuild or my A600.

As you know the clock does not pulls the system speed equally up.

So.. I have a 75 mhz crystal in, and stable just like that. Mabe it is the A600? I even had issues with usb due to caps. I had it send to hikey, since I removed a track or two :(

Do not feel bad about it, I think the power of this machine is in it's games and a bit of workbench..

@Steve

Hi my friend.

Do you really need to over-clock the A600?

I think the A600 with A603, A630 32/25, IndiECS and maybe ROM switcher is the best machine to play old games in "pure state" or games with WHDLoad bugs.

An example are my games in Spanish languaje.... WHDLoad versions don't run or run with a lot of issues. My original floppys (and HDD installations) runs 100% in the A600

To run WB 3.x smooth & WHDLoad..... from A1200 to A4K's (with good CPU & RAM) and you have powerfull Amigas

Sorry, is only one opinion.....

Best wishes

Hi Pablo,

I just wanted to get a little more out of it my friend, I felt it owed me a few more mhz ;)

You're right, it does do a good job already but I enjoy the hackery

Steve.

Hey Guys!

Just a small update to this pretty much finished project :)

Maybe I'll add USB one day but for now, its complete! I had Kipper2k's CF adapter here for a while now and decided to use it in this project because this case already has two holes and some broken clips so I don't mind filing out the PCMCIA slot.

Its not quite as straight as I would have liked but simetimes you have to stop before you make things worse ;)

First cut wasn't big enough, so had to chop some more off :butcher

Another quick look at the inside, notice my 1.3/3.1 dual Rom is missing, its gone a bit tits up and stuck on 1.3, so need to fix that as one of the cables came away from the switch... Should be a simple solder job. For now I've fitted a 3.1 Rom only

I also made a slight slot for the SD card because with the HxC screwed down the SD Card was being pushed up and not making good contact.

Thats it for now :pint:

Thanks my friend

I did think for a while to put this all in an A1000 case but I think that the small cute A600 form factor is the way forward :)

We have a complete look a like:D But that has to do with same breeding ground. Ah 32 mhz I am at 38 it runs hot after a while ..

It is slow, but great for old games and basic stuff. Mine is rock solid after mobo visit at Hikey. do not put this in another case, I think it is waste of time with the old 16 bit, ecs etc.

You're right my friend, this one stays in the standard A600 case, its a great little Amiga with some 030 power/WHDLoad to take with you to friends houses/meets, etc.

I am a bit dissapointed about the aca630 speed wise.. I use most it's time disabled as a500 and rom1.3:D Still better then the stock cpu. Have fun:thumbsup:, I'll update my thread later.

Sometimes I'm thinking to "return" my A600 to his original case..... But, no way to install the DVD-RW I'm using now....

As you know I installed my A600 project in one A4KD case (finally I don't dryll anything :D) but still looking for one slim PC desktop case..... If possible, I will go this weekend to the shops, maybe I fins one suitable for my project.... :)

Best wishes

Awesome work Steve! That CF adapter is pretty sweet! :)

Thanks mate  Kipper did a great job on these, I can't wait for his Indivision ECS adapter

Yeah I have all sorts of bits and pieces, problem is the HxC is only secured at one end so if I raise it any more then it dosen't fit flush. Before I had to leave the screw loose fitting which wasn't ideal

He he, you know me too well ;)

I would love USB for all my Amiga's but just don't want to shell out the big bucks just yet...

I notice Amigakit are out of Deneb's too, hope they get some more in... They still have the Subways though :)

Hi Steve.
Nice work, mate. Pretty much what I wannado with mine.

Few good ideas in yours but do you plan to surface mount the LCD screen of the HxF ? That would be awesome.

Also, would be interested to know what your kickrom changer is...

Hey Guys,

Thought I'd share some little hackery with ya'll :)

I got one of Kippers adapters that relocates the Indi ECS and allows space to fit the floppy drive.

Since I have a complete spare case without any cuts I thought I'd see how it feels to have a more convetional setup with the floppy drive.

So here's the adapter, it fits onto the A603 and then you connect the IndiECS to the adapter.

IMG_1592.jpg

IMG_1589.jpg

And here with the IndiECS in place, I actually found that I don't get a great connection due to the cable socket as it's not possible to fully insert the pins. So I used a riser socket.

IMG_1593.jpg

And here it all is installed:

IMG_1594.jpg

IMG_1595.jpg

IMG_1596.jpg

Here's the spare case, its not quite as white as the other but its clean with no cuts and no broken clips :)

IMG_1597.jpg

And yay! It all works :) But with the riser the ECS makes contact with the keyboard and I can't fully close the case so I'll need to look for a solution if I keep it like this..
