Due to a recent massive hike in chip prices by ST, Gotek have redesigned their drives to use either the ARTERY AT32F415CBT7 or AT32F415RBT7 instead of the STM32F105RBT6 Cortex-M3. This design change null and voids ANY and ALL previous mods such as rotary encoders, speakers etc.as the board layout is drastically different.
The official declaration by Gotek themselves is here: http://www.gotekemulator.com/N_view.asp?nid=50
If you are considering purchasing a Gotek then please find out from the vendor which chip is on the board beforehand. Stocks of the ST based Gotek's are still available apparently but fairly soon they will all be AT based.
Fortunately, Keirf the creator of FlashFloppy is already on the case and has released a new version of his software to take this into account. Details are here: https://github.com/keirf/FlashFloppy/wiki/Gotek-Compatibility
Also, a new tutorial(?) video is already on youtube explaining how to do the mods above on these new boards. Details are here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvjgHGA9Gc8
