I dunno if there are any other O2 Broadband customers out there who like me have just been taken over by Sky?

I had intended to cancel and switch from my £21/month 24Mbit O2 ADSL & Phone package to £24.50/month FTTC & Phone from Plusnet.

However Sky called me out of the blue and offered me an insane deal :

  • Free Quad LNB satellite dish & Installation
  • Free Sky Broadband ADSL Wireless 802.11n Router
  • Free Sky+ HD box
  • Free Unlimited Sky Broadband 24Mbit (for 12 months going to £7.50)
  • Free Sky Entertainment Extra+ (for 12 months going to £31.50)
  • £9.95/month Line Rental (for 12 months going to £14.50)

So a total of £9.95/month for 12 months for a package which would normally be £53.50/month.

I asked if I could ditch the TV stuff as I have no TV and they said "That would be an extra £2.50/month to have no TV!"

What's the catch?? Other than I sell my soul to Merdoch?

How long will you be tied in after the 12 months? Another 12/18?

hmmm bite their hand off :D

I was with Be, which has also been taken over by Sky. However just as they were due to switch me over I had BT infinity FTTC installed and cancelled my Be broadband.

I already have Sky so I'm unsure what offers they would have made me, but when I cancelled with Be they tried to keep me by offering free broadband for a year, but in all honesty the switch from a 5mb unstable connection, to a 76mb very stable connection was worth the move.

Usually it will be a rolling 1 month contract unless you sign back up [with a new deal/offer] or cancel with 30 days notice.

But if you ring up after the 12 months and say you are thinking of leaving they often offer you another deal.
