Re: os 3.9 kickstart for Zetr0

hmmm it sounds as though its reading in BYTE mode not WORD mode, I will see what I have my Programmer set to.

Re: os 3.9 kickstart for Zetr0

is that a setting in software or on the programmer it self?

Re: os 3.9 kickstart for Zetr0

Hmmm telll you what, take a big pic of the base unit without the 16bit adapter, then a pic of the 16 bit adapter and then a pic of them fitted, also post some links to the settings required, what software are you using?

what extra power source you using (i am using a +12v external plug pack)

btw what chip are you using ?> 27c400 / 27c4000 / 27c040 / 27c4100 ?

Re: os 3.9 kickstart for Zetr0

Intrigued as to why the Screenies of these ROM's show 45.057 & 45.028?

Take 3.1 ROM's for the A4KD & T. - A4KD is 3.1ROM v40.68. & the A4KT 3.1ROM is 40.70. - The 40.70 includes SCSI which the A4KD does not have.

Some weeks ago, I did have a breif chat with Zetr0 about the enhancements in the BoingBag2 update. There is a ROM update which has a choice of installing itself during the Setup. I recall the Early Startup Screen looking rather Posh for this Update having been installed & kicked from the hard drive. - Heavens forbid I have got this right up my arse sideways on & the enhancements are down to just a CS Card being fitted. I'd say not as I noticed both the PPC & CSMKIII show this Posh front end.

Dunno if any of these enhancements are possible direct from these 3.9 ROMS, but it would be sweet if these could be achieved on ROM. I am aware the ROM size is bigger than is required & the extra space on the ROMS is not available for the Amiga to utilise.

T'would be nice to have a set of these in my El-Boxed A1200! :D

Kin

PS Zeets.... Maybe the Posh Early Startup Screen is a Marks & Spencer thing m8!? ......Priceless! :lol:

Re: os 3.9 kickstart for Zetr0

I'd call the 3.9 ROM update booted from the HD "Posh," even though the only differences I've seen are the options to boot in DoublePAL and DoubleNTSC. I don't have a CS card though.

One day I'll have a ROM burner and some real 3.9 ROMs....

Re: os 3.9 kickstart for Zetr0

On the product description of my adapter it says that it supports 42pin 27C400, but mine are 40 pin. Does that give me the problems?

This is what a wordwise unified rom looks like after I've read chips:
MOO eparitgnS syet mna diLrbraei

And one correct read ROM Chip should say:
AGAOMpeti SteanLiars

Instead mine says:
AGMOepitS etnaiLra

I'll do some pics when I wake up

@arnljot

LMAO i heard the sound of your hand smacking your head from over here in the UK!!!!!

.... it woke me up.....

Re: os 3.9 kickstart for Zetr0

@Zetr0 and TheCorfiot

As you see from my posting time it was late at night. My adapter has a jumper (JP2), which closed says "27C232", now it's left open, and then everything is as it should be.

My next move is to try and figure out why I can't get my 12V 800mA PSU to work with the programmer. When I use VCC insted of USB-VCC (or what ever the jumper says), my programmer software complains that hardware is not present.

So, Zetr0, you were right. It was wrong jumper settings. I just didn't consider that it would be on the adapter and not on the programmer itself.

Re: os 3.9 kickstart for Zetr0

@arnljot

I maybe happy to be right, but I am esteemly happier that you got that sorted :)

if its worth owt, I have mad some absolute classic mistakes with my programmer.... like trying to program 4096's as 400/4100's .... that didn't go well LOL

writing half a dozen chips, and then realizing i had forgotten to byte swap the buffer!

writting half a dozen chips on the 16bit adapter, and forgetting a 49f00x chip was left underneath in a PLCC socket.... (kept failing at 12% LOL) it drove me barmy that one...

Writting half a dozen chips with the wrong rom image, thats not so funny...

I could go on my friend.... but.... my l33tn3ss would be damaged irrepariably if i do lol.

congrats on getting this issue sorted my friend :)

LOL :lol:

Well, the only way you could loose that, my friend, is if you shave the beard of your avatar 8)

Re: os 3.9 kickstart for Zetr0

If someone is willing to make 3.9 rom's for me, i would be very happy. I would love to do it myself, but at the moment, i'm too busy with my work and other projects, not all amiga related, though :) Actually my latest A4000T deserves to have those :)

Re: os 3.9 kickstart for Zetr0

@hessu
It is murky waters... Try and see if you can find someone locally who can help. One thing is to make sure you legally own the software, an other thing is to know which modules to install for you as there is a host of options.

I do not want to be drawn into a discussion on this, I just mention it as our own good motorolin got flamed at a.org for helping someone out.

@zetr0, harrison, motorolin, the rest

I know from the doobrey.net guide which blizkick modules to avoid.

But which are really good?

Machine 1: cybppc amiga 4000, no ide.

Machine 2: blizz030mk4 amiga 1200

What et you use in your roms?

my willem have three pin jumper near psu connector where you select power from usb or from external psu

(and i dont have manual for willem, bot a broken cd from ebay, cant find it anywhere which jumper is which, so this was only pure luck to see traces from psu connector and from usb to side pins of that jumper :)

Re: os 3.9 kickstart for Zetr0

@chain

The jumper is right next to the psu plug, and it can be set to "VDC" or "VUSB". My programmer only works with VUSB.

When I use my 800mA 12V PSU, the programmer is not detected by software.

According to the willem.org forum, polarity doesn't matter as the programmer has a rectifier filter. But perhaps I can try a higher voltage psu?

I think the programmer can work with 9V to 21V, who knows? And if so, which jumpers needs tampering then? :-)

BTW chain, docs for the programmer is rare as... X-Calibur RAM expansions and AmigaOS 5.

With mine there was only supplied provisional install docs + a pdf with a list of supported chips and a layout of the board.

now abour power led ? (orange one on mine)
when i plug external psu it will lit brightly (on usb power its only dimmed)
maybe you can look on pcb if that plug is actually connected to something.

one example with another plug:
bought a KVM from ebay, where it states it can be powered from keyboard pwr, or from external 9v adapter. i need it only for switching vga inputs, so ive connected external psu and ... nothing happens :) so ive disassembled it and there is a missing voltage regulator, there are traces, even silkscreen for it, but no trace of solder, nor regulator :D ove soldered 7805 there and it works! :) those chinese workers probably just want to cutdown price as "nobody will use it with externa psu anyway"

hope its readable as im writing a sh*t, littlre drung, and my selflearned english from games and manuals isnt always clear 8)

My PSU is a "multi psu", which I can switch from 5V to 35V (using small plugs which fit on the main body of it). And then there are adaptor plugs (10 of them, from laptop huge, to tiny tiny).

Turns out that the plug I used was too big.

My led is orange too, and is also lit with stronger intensity when USB powered.

Re: os 3.9 kickstart for Zetr0

*Ahem*

Now, I really don't want to go peeing on anyone's bonfire here, but as I understand it, these 3.9 ROMs are based on an edited Commodore ROM image which is subject to copyright.

I feel that by discussing the finer points of setting up EPROM burners etc. this thread is heading into a grey area regarding the legality of these edited ROM images.

As we want AmiBay to remain squeaky clean in relation to illegal software, I would suggest that some clarification be given by someone such as Zetr0 about the status of these images. Until such time that the status is verified, I suggest we steer clear of talking about burning EPROM images and related matters. Similarly, please refrain from posting any edited images or links to them until we have cleared this up.

I hope that you understand my reason for stepping in at this point.

Over to you, Z...............
