Can't believe how quickly they hit their goal.
Obviously, a lot of gamers out there looking for something different from the "standard."

Not sure it's something I'm into, but I'm pulling for them.. ;-)

lol, i've come to the conclusion if i devote even less than two weeks of (game)play to every device i own, i got the entire year covered. ;)

The media boxes have lacked one thing, physical game controllers. google tv, apple tv and whatever. Same with tablets and phones. So this can work as a media hub, game hub and you can tinker with it. Sounds good to me.

While it isn't a revolution, it at least have done what i was waiting for someone to do.

I dont really get it. Same as rasberry pi. Its a tablet without a screen.
To be more precise, its a nexus 7 without a screen.

My current tablet, does 2160P and I can connect a joypad, keyboard and mouse up to it. Spose the only advantage is the tegra 3 and the cost.
However people in europe will be screwed unless they get distribution going in europe as import tax will hammer you, plus they want extra $20 on top for shipping.

looks great if they do what they say.. XBMC + games,, win win.

Yes, the shovelware potential is outstanding !

Hey, throw an Android ONLIVE client on there while you're at it..
There's your AAA games..

:-)

If its running android, then you can install the current onlive on there.
Hence my earlier comment, I really dont get it.

$99 for an dedicate android gaming console...

You bet I will be getting that... I want to dev some gaming damn it!

albeit Java - Ha! i have a C++ cross compiler so there!

That's what I meant..
It's not that it's doing anything that can't be done now..
It's all in the packaging and management of it.
If they can come up with a better filtered appstore (not 10000000 choices), make it plug and play for end users, easy to use from the couch...

Nothing new, but it's all about how it's packaged, it could do well...

I'm most interested in how it involves the games industry...
It looks like a lot of Indie developers are already excited about that...

Eventually, I can see this type of thing being embedded in TVs/etc....

But I already have this. I hook up my tablet to my tv in HD, then hook up my joypad and away I go.
Theres nothing my tablet cant do this is already planning to do.
Difference is I can take my tablet on the move and play stuff, etc etc.

My daughter cracked her brand new tablet, so now that is only good for connecting to a TV. Shes upset its broken but happy it works using her TV.
So she basically has a OUYA.

This is exactly the same as the rasberry pi, you could even say its what rasberry pi should have been. Rasberry pi is using outdated tablet technology (obviously to keep price down).

Im not being negative, just really do not get it.
Whats so special about this. By the time you have ordered one with a joypad, you may aswell have bought a tablet for virtually the same price with simular specs.
I think this will benefit US people more than outside US.

This will also be a fantastic place for amature programmers to hone their skills.

True, much like the days of good times past, with software on the Speccy, C64, Amiga.

Unfortunately the app stores (iphone/ipad/android) have already proven themselves to be 10:1 crap:quality
With a good rating system and easy searching, it could become much better than those (let's even include xbla/indy here).
