With my ebay account i will only provide a tracked service from now on... for all countries including the UK. Large parcels are ok as i use courier services which always have tracking as standard
When i list p&p prices here on Amibay it will be priced with tracking. Potential buyers can choose a cheaper non-tracked service at their own risk... although i trust most people here anyway (i only say "most" as i don't know everyone here

... that's right, I didn't! I'm talking about a single Polish guy, Paypal claims and what i've heard about the Polish postal system from Royal Mail themselves. Dont try and turn this into something it's not
You're very lucky if only a single parcel out of 1000 has been lost.... and yes it was my mistake offering standard airmail on feebay (not happening again).

I was just upset that someone said to you that Polish Post is one of the worst on the world. You agree that it's not nice, especially if it's not true at all.
I'm sure that she (I think you were told by woman) has no proof for that. Just she said what you wanted to hear.
I was also surprised that you believed in this and wrote this here.
As default I don't believe with everything I'm told.
And as you said - always insure your parcel shipped abroad. Not only me was telling you this. It's really good habit.

Ok no worries, i just thought you were having a dig at me... I must have misinterpreted it :roll:
I agree it's not nice and i personally don't know how the Polish postal service works. I was first told by Royal Mail over the phone (i called them first)... then i was told almost the same thing when i went to my local post office (2 grumpy females and 1 male) to pick up a claim form.
I don't usually believe everything i'm told either. On this occasion it was hard not to believe when told by several Royal Mail workers with years of postal experience. If i was told by just one person or a young teenage worker then i would have taken it with pinch of salt.
I also mentioned it here to see if anyone else has had any issues sending things to Poland.... This does not seem to be the case so i'm more inclined to believe you over Royal (Fail) Mail

I will always send items tracked from now on although it can almost double postage costs to some countries
. If i've dealt with the same people before and i trust them, then i will send items using a cheaper option at their request (and risk).Anyway, sorry for any upsets and hopefully Royal Mail will sort this issue out... I'll have a bit of a moan at them when i'm next in my local post office for talking
about Polish post and maybe ask if they have proof

All of this is why we recommend proof of payment (not necessarily PayPal, other payment methods are available) and signed for, tracked postage as good practice when trading on AmiBay. These simple things save loads of heartache, hassle and expense later.

Ive had a hell of alot of problems sending stuff abroard, particularly Germany (oddly). I get the impression alot of them are taking advantage of the system that eBay has in place for buyers. Even if you send the item tracked and actually have proof that its been sent (in one instance I even had the guys signature recorded) and I STILL had to refund the smug b*****d.
Hence why I avoid eBay as much as possible, especially if it's computer bits since there is a place like this I would rather go on here.
However, I have had success as a seller from very annoying buyers, it's not easy but if you have a good argument and persevere you will win. Be prepared for alot of e-mails and phonecalls to an Indian call centre though...

Germany has an excellent postal system- we have never had any packages delayed/go missing there in 6 years of trading. Scandinavian countries have very good mail systems as well (no problems). Denmark and Greece have reliable services, even Russia is good if you use a trackable mail service.
However, in our experience the worst postal system is Italy. You will notice it is no coincidence that a lot of people will not ship to Italy on Ebay.

I sent 4 items to portugal - lost 2
I sent 3 items to itally - lost 3
I sent 2 items to greece - lost 1
last week I sent four items in the main land UK
2 returned (and resent) - 1 lost (will be putting a claim in when I get back)

In all the years I've been sending videos/dvds, a fleabayer and since joining AmiNiceBay I've never lost a thing - I bet I'm going to regret saying that now oh:

If i'm selling on ebay i tend to offer only to the UK and if i get an international bidder i cancel their bid. I know it might sound harsh.
The daft thing is i wouldn't mind if they actually contacted me before but they never do they just bid and hope i won't notice. I actually had someone complain to ebay about me cause i cancelled their bid but as i had listed it as UK only ebay sided with me and i got no further action.

I'm not sure how but my listings on ebay won't let anyone outside the UK bid on my items unless their country is in the postal options. I think ebay must have automatically set this up as i also used to get international bidders start bidding on items without asking first (one of them still expected FREE p&p). :dry:

Recently ebay did change its listing forms a bit and now has settings to restrict a listing to be only UK if you wish, and the listing won't appear to any ebayers outside of the country. I also tend to only sell within the UK on ebay for a lot of items these days as it saves a lot of hassle. If I can't get any buyers then I do consider opening it up to international buyers.
But I only offer tracked and insured postage on ebay these days. Too many members on there who could easily rip you off with claims for non arrival.
My wife sold a mobile on ebay a while back and the buyer didn't want insured or tracked postage, and then put in a claim and got all of his money back. We are sure he received the phone.
And regarding parcels getting lost. I think on Amibay I've only had one parcel to Brazil go missing. It wasn't tracked or insured, and that was annoying.
I did used to act as a romburner a while back and had a fair few sets of DVDs/CDs go missing to overseas customers. The worst was a set I tried to send to Luxembourg 3 times, and every time it never arrived. In the end we gave up trying.

100% failure rate to Italy, that explains the b***hing on the other bay. "Will not ship to Italy" it screams, then again with Italian for good measure.
Paypal are hopeless. I've sent many an email about their 'claims' process which I'm sure is handled by a computer like the WOPR in Wargames. I'm not even sure if an actual 'human' looks at any claim tbh, it's you and their computer fighting it out in a global war of supremacy!

Hey Paul_S, I spoke to Paypal once bacuse some fool sent me a 'New' graphics card that was rattling round in an empty box and busted by the time it got to me.
Sent it back as the person asked and they didn't refund, eventually I rang paypal, spoke to a person who refunded me there and then!
I'm pretty sure I spoke to someone in India anyway as I remember it was no problem, but then I was the buyer and it seems here buyers have all the rights and sellers
