PC Floppy Drive cable for Amiga

Good day all,

I've a Gotek to replace a faulty floppy in my Amiga 500, but the existing cable is too short! I know PC floppy cables don't work in their natural state but do they work properly if i just use the bit that isn't twisted?

Per picture - just using between "B: Drive" and "Host"?




If so, do i just cut off the remainder bit or is there some kind of termination that is required?

Hi, yes should work fine.

for the twisted part you can also open the connector by carefully unsnapping the tabs on the ends and gently pulling the connector apart then carefully flip the twisted wires back making sure to reseat the cable using the same connection points where the teeth of the connector had already been. should work great.

Thanks. If i just cut off the part after be (as nearly as i can) will that require any kind of termination do you think?

No termination needed Derek. I do exactly what you are proposing...cut off the twisted end and use the rest!
