This is a very sad Apollo 1240, it came to me today with some Amiga bits I just picked up. I doubt this could ever be repaired it looks like someone has viciously attacked it :butcher

It's definitely doesn't worth the time even for looking at it :(
The damage is indeed too heavy :thumbsdown:

Maybe hoarding some parts like Mach chips or anything else for other defect Apollos can be the only use for that board.

I hope you didn't pay top pounds for this one ...

It really depends on how deep those scratches are, maybe you should ask Stachu100.
But just looking at it, like most say here, R.I.P. Apollo 1240 :blink:

Hi Steve,

Card looks bad indeed...
But I can buy it for spare parts to repair other boards. If you are ok with this idea please PM me.

Cheers,
Stan

Is that the 040 CPU that's surface mounted? I have never seen a Apollo 1240 card like this one before.

Are they common?

Hey guys!

Thanks for the kind words :)

It sure is a shame to see an Apollo or indeed any Amiga item in this state :thumbsdown:

Nope I didn't buy just this card so to speak, it was included with some Amiga items I bought the Apollo was included as 'spare parts' so no financial loss.

@Jimbob, I have a faulty Apollo 1240 already with Zetr0 so maybe this can help fix the other, if not for sure I'll make the spare parts available to the community.

Steve.

I'd say its pretty rare for that reason, its the first I've seen as well.

Shame it doesn't even have the MACH131 chip :(

Perhaps you could donate it to Cosmos in return for some services?

@Steve

looking at the damage in the pictures it looks worse than it actually is, I believe with some work that this could be repairable, the only concern would be the tracks to the first RAM socket, the ACT16543 logic chip and the traces leading up to it.

I suspect a bit of a clean up would go a long way to seeing what was truly damaged, when you next come up buddy bring this little monster with you and we shall have a look at it together =)

My goodness, that is in a terrible state. Why would anyone do this? It just beggars belief :unsure:

Hey Zeets, I admire your optimism ;)

Sure I'll bring it along next time :cool:

Cheers!

Steve.

@Steve

In the worst case my friend I get to share with you some SMD reworking skills =)
