Ooooh, sound's swish. Is this one of those organs that have the motor mounted over the speaker?? Does it have realistic sounds? I'm far from an expert (that much is obvious), but I think I remember Hammonds usually having realistic sounds e.g. piano, strings, etc.

Educate me please!
The motor on this one's mounted off to the side, since it has to drive the tonewheel assembly that runs most of the width of the instrument. Not sure if others did it differently. (Unless by the motor/speaker thing you're referring to a Leslie rotary speaker cabinet? Don't have one of those, but I'm keeping an eye out - that'd be great to have!)

Like most electric organs it does have presets named for real instruments (trumpet, ensemble, etc.,) but you'd be hard-pressed to describe them as "realistic;" they're just pre-picked settings for the drawbars that give vaguely reminiscent tones. That's okay, though, the drawbars give access to a wide range of great sounds :) (You can kinda "play" them, too, by pulling them out or pushing them in while you're holding notes - very spacey, Rick Wright kinda sounds!)

I got Space Quest II & III today for Amiga, I know they are PC EGA ports but the games themselves are still brilliant! I just need SQI now!

Ps, I do have all the PC versions up to SQ6 in a collection pack too.

today i received my adigy 2 sound blaster pci card.
took maybe 6 minuets to install 2 of those was downloading drivers. and it works great,
i must say its better than your standard ac 97 sound, and even if i only say its louder thats a good thing, but it also seems to have more depth and clarity.
The card features are a bit lack luster, but i guess if i want to improve on them i need to get the special little front pannel thingy that has the knobs on them too,
also has a fire wire port. but i never used one before and i dont see me using this one now either

at Shambles, i have one of these in a draw at home, it has the front poart as well, tbh your aren't missing anything by not having it, just some front connectors:thumbsup:

The Audigy 2 is great. I have the same one which also has the external controller thingy. Works really great on my Win 7 system. My previous XFi had died on me.

Got my copy of Sensible Software 1986 - 1999 book today. A year later after ordering from the Kickstarter campaign! Well worth the wait, really nice quality throughout...

As a benefactor I get a signed copy by Mr. Jon Hare, custom dust jacket (not shown) and my name is in there too :)

Actually going to buy another copy as this is too nice and collectable to read!

If you'd like one then grab them here > http://www.readonlymemory.vg/
That video was amazing. I gotta buy that book when I'm back from my travels.

Hehe feels like christmas has come early :D

Got the C64 through from Bluesbrothers today and am really chuffed with it!! Its in such good condition and there was a nice selection of extra titles that bb was kind enough to add in (Gemini Wing is particularly good, great soundtrack) :)

and maybe one of these?:

Most definitley looking seriously at the SD2IEC Snoozy :D

Paradroid had mentioned it on another thread to me, and I hadn't heard of it before, but have read up and it looks like the perfect next addition to my C64!!

it works around 3-4x quicker with jiffydos :)

:D That sounds fantastic!! I can see this is going to be an expensive month for me

Looking at scrappy's example..

from accessing Manic PRG file - was around 43 secs with CBM basic and 11 secs with jiffydos :)

you could check to see if your c64c rom is socketed as this would make the transplant of the jiffydos easy, otherwise it would maybe be a soldering job :o

If you look in my old closed thread there are a couple of YouTube videos showing the difference between standard basic loading of manic miner and jiffydos loading of manic miner both using an sd2iec

https://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?t=52030

That looks incredible :wooha: Such speeds were unimagined back in the day of the 1541!

And with the convenience and storage of sd2iec it looks like a match made in heaven :D

Hmmmm very tempted...

Ah gotcha, will have to open this beauty at some point and check (If I can pry the joystick away from myself for 5 mintues)

Way to go Magnox! That's a really nice set-up! I recognise Shoot em up Construction Kit on there too.

Only trouble is, the light gun isn't going to work on a flat-screen television.

What on earth will you do?!

PS. I wish my work computer set-up looked as cool as that C64! Just going to load up word. Shift + Run/Stop and *press*

Ultra cool!

That's a nice setup! :)

Thanks Nick :D Really happy with it!!

Used to always load up SEUCK, really versatile I think even to this day.

There was something quite magical about the C64 bundles, they seemed to strike a perfect balance between bundled games and productivity, and the artwork on the boxes always inspired interest and were well designed! :)

Lol I know how you feel matey, I got fed up of pc's and specifically emulating C64 on pc myself, just simple things like some sound routines in basic ended up sound popping and not sounding as they would on the real deal 64. And now somehow the world seems a lot brighter with my shiny new c64 in pride of place :D

Is that the same setup that you had originally, Magnox?

I went to a lot of trouble a few years ago to replicate a setup my Dad had back in the '80s, with a C64 Breadbin, a Brother M1009 printer, a 1541 disk drive and a special IEC to Parallel interface that he had at the time. he couldn't believe it when he saw the same setup again.
