:D

After moving out to California to be with family and start a new job, I realized that you can't get a decent used car for under $2k here (they pay more for absolutely trashed "project" cars than I've paid for viable mid-'90s beaters in Minnesota,) so I figured if I had to shell out significant money for one anyway, I might as well get one that's A. neat and B. possibly going to appreciate in value rather than depreciate. It's a 1971 Beetle with a 1.6L engine which was rebuilt two years and a paltry number of miles ago, plus a brake job and a large handful of other bits of restoration. It's still not a museum piece (the floor pans are going to have to be replaced in the near future,) but with a little TLC it could be a very nice car indeed, and I got it for $veryreasonable from a very nice couple this afternoon.

Now I just need to learn to drive a manual ;)

That's really nice!!!

Nice Bug! If I were you, I'd try to find rear fenders that look more stock. Is the floorpan rusty or why does it need to be replaced? Well, I suppose that if you want a rust free car, you'd have to go shopping in Arizona.

The floorpan is starting to rust on the rear driver's side and might be beginning on the passenger side as well. It's currently not too bad, but I'll probably get it done as preventative maintenance within the year.

I'm debating how much effort I want to go to get it into "stock" condition - I'm probably going to replace the absurdly over-featured USB-MP3-Pandora-Sirius-wax-cylinder-record-etcetera stereo with something less ridiculous, but the new Corbeau front seats are a significant improvement over the old ones. We'll see how it goes.

To my recollection, the Beetle fenders are bolted, so swapping them shouldn't be a big issue. If you still want to use the current wide tyres, there should be fenders that are wider than stock but they are widened from the center so they retain the stock-like form.

Took a trip to my local waste station. After 3 month of HEAVY collic baby crying, we had a lot of things that needed to be disposed of.

After emptying my trailer, I took a look in the "free giveaway" shack they have. And lo and behold:

I am now a xbox 360 owner. Never had one, never played one. But I will clean it up and test it.

I picked up a A3640 today from Sir_Lucas, i thought it was a 3.1 but looking at the U209 Gal it looks to have been upgraded (or did 3.2 boards still say 3.1 on the pcb?)

Hi, yes the Rev3.2 was never printed on the board, so it's just the upgraded GAL (-03) that makes the difference. Which you have.

Not quite so good news is that the 3 Caps have not been replaced with ones in the correct orientation (the board was printed incorrectly for C105, 106 and 107) - they should be the other way round (with black stripe towards the '+' connector). You may wish to change this at some point before they start leaking...

Have fun with your new toys! :)

Thanks for the heads up, I had checked them and am gonna send it away to a member on here for recapping along with my motherboard somepoint in the next few weeks. I'm enjoying all of it its great fun playing with old hardware again :D

Just got this PCB board. Mortal Kombat main board for an arcade cabinet. Going to use this one with my supergun once I've made a wiring harness for the extra buttons this game uses. Yes, it is a pirated board, but it seems to be working just fine. :)

Reminds me of my arcade machine collecting days. I've since sold all my machines off and made a MAME cab. They just took up too much room!

I hope you enjoy the game. :)

My copy of Imperial Assault showed up yesterday, and i had a few thrift shop finds the day before (tho, nothing too exciting), unfortunately 4 of the figures in IA came damaged (all 3 probe droids...and from what i am seeing on the net, this is going to be common, the figure joins the base at 3 of it's 'legs' and they are real spindly...2 of them had destroyed legs as well, so no hope of repair...going to have to wait for replacements...as well as Gaarkhan, whose weapon was snapped off)

Imperial Assault
Oh-Wah-Ree - Leisure Time/Avalon Hill (1976) (i have always been fond of AHs bookcase games and have never come across this one)
The Game of Dilemmas - Avalon Hill (1982) (looks like some odd party game :P )
Blockade - Lakeside (1979) (i'm certain i had this one as a kid) (couple bits missing unfortunately)
