CBM 220

Last weekend I picked up this attic beauty with two printers, manuals and software...

Purchased this game gear, rechargeable battery pack and 2 games from ebay. Seller said they were barely used and like new. Upon receipt everything was still in their baggies and not a mark on anything. Of course the battery in the battery pack was dead and the game gear needed recapping but all is now done and working :)

Ah I didn't see your back light thread. That is actually interesting. I've seen the LED mod and I know what you mean about the bright spots. But that does look a lot better. It's a shame the screen itself was never tge best but the default illumination method didn't help at all either. A note about the TV out mod, as you probably know its like the LCD mod, not full screen, but it is RGB and it looks reallynice on my 21" Trinny. I'll bring it to Cheltnum with me, can have a gander.

Finally I've got Catweasel Mk4.
Now it's inside my PC with 6581 & 8580 SID chips with 2 floppies. I must only mod 5.25" Drive to read C64 disks properly.

Drool.... very nice

I picked up my original chipped Playstation I bought back in the 90's and I gave to my friend before moving to Ireland 10 years ago, he left it in the office before he also moved back abroad a few months back. Sadly it doesn't seem to want to read any disks or recognise the controller plugged in the front. All the cool stuff like my original memory cards (with my Tekken 3 and Grand Turismo saves) and games the folks got me for Christmas's and Birthdays like Parasite Eve 2, Vagrant Story and a couple of the Final Fantasy games have also gone (not sure if I traded them in at the time or what) so the reunion was a little bitter sweet ;)

Keropi's SC-55 turned up at lunchtime and looks fantastic

The Antmeister kindly gave me his old PowerBook G4 which I hope to get working soon, thanks dude

And I finally picked up a Roland MT-32 while I was over in the UK. I've gotten as far as powering it on  I can't wait for the new x68000 turns up and I install the MIDI interface in it, hopefully it is going to sound amazing now :D:D:D

I managed to get my hands on a replica Sega Power Chair. I explain a lot more about it over at my blog ( www.retrogamingroundup.com/blog) but i wanted to show you guys. currently i plan to restore it but only if i can find replica parts or very very close to replica. I have 4 brand new buttons that are replica so that's a great start. This was made is Minnesota and can also play on a NES (If you bought the other chip board years ago when this was released), i don't have that NES chip so my chair will only play sega megadrive/genesis and master system. It's in pretty good condition but has a very slight bias to lean to the left so being on balance is great and i have played Super Hang-on and Space Harrier on it. It's a great little device and im happy to have it home.

I plan to made a little run of blogs to show the progression of the restoration but i will keep you all posted too. :)

I stumbled upon a 1GB SCSI on a car boot sale this morning... after some fiddling I managed to get it up an running in the A590 swapping out the old 40mb beast.

My little lad gave it a test drive and after stumbling on the 'say' program he proceeded to spend nearly an hour laughing his head off making it say 'I do trumps'

Got myself a refurbished ThinkPad t500 to replace my old laptop after it threw out a hinge (always the first thing to go on cheap laptops!) It's in just about like-new condition except for a little cosmetic chipping around the latch holes for the lid, and it runs like a dream. It's also the highest-resolution anything I've ever owned at 1680x1050  Got it dual-booting XP 32-bit and Debian 7 amd64 (gonna have another go at using Linux as a daily driver, because Windows has done entirely too much screwing around with its UI over the last eight years, and if I've gotta learn a bunch of new crap that breaks my workflow, I might as well learn the bunch of new crap that will enable me to never again have to learn a bunch of new crap that breaks my workflow.) Hopefully having a CPU with built-in virtualization makes QEMU or Bochs fast enough that I can run XP from within Linux for YouTube purposes (plus light gaming and Photoshop, if WINE isn't fast enough for that.)

I hardly ever seem to buy retro stuff these days, and to think I swore a I'd never get a 360 as well. But since I've been playing Super Mario Bros DX (GBC) and Truxton (hell yeah!), they've both gotten me in to self punishment! (oo er). So I bought these,

DoDonPachi Resurrection, Akai Katana, Bullet Soul Infinite Burst and Deathsmiles. Surely enough satisfy my current desire to play difficult games. Infinite burst cost me the most, but the others were dirt cheap from ebay. Deathsmiles has a really cool gothic vibe, I love the music. Taking a while to get into Bullet Soul, and Akai Katana is proving quite difficult, but love the graphics. All can be had quite cheap if you're into bullet hell shoot em ups.

DREAMCAST Shoot em up :)

Not sure if you get them somewhere and cant wait to play it :D

Very nice dude :) I always thought Gradius V was one of the best looking shoot em ups I've ever come across, but when I saw that I was totally blown away. Sturmwinds music is also fantastic, I'd love to try it.

Won this from the other bay.

Yes, it is sealed, first version ("lust" word on back).

Many will hate me because I will actually open it, so I can get it signed by its creator, Ron Gilbert! :D

I paid for mine, but redspotgames have failed to deliver or even answer the phone or support tickets raised for it. Not happy

Got my self a few more games for various systems. :)
I'd love to get an actual Chrono Trigger cartridge. Very nice!

I'm doing much more surface mount soldering and other component level repairs so I splurged and purchased a very nice microscope. It's really overkill for what I need right now, but I can grow into it and shouldn't need to purchase another for quite some time.
