Premium Joystick port switcher for Commodore 64
In December 2025 You get 10% discount on this device!
Is not only switching one port, but swapping them both!
Function description:
Remote port swap:
Using a simple modification on any joystick you can swap ports from your joystick. (The mod is 2 diodes and a button, or you rewire an already present button.)
It uses an "impossible keypress combination" to trigger the switch. That combination is direction UP and DOWN pressed at the same time.
When it senses this it swaps ports.
Normal Port swap:
By short pressing the swap button on the adapter it is swapping its ports. (Port 1 becomes port 2 while port 2 becomes port 1)
The adapter is using a long type of button on purpose, that acts like a lever. This way the button can be pressed from different directions. For example from the buttom, from the top, from left, from right and of course from the front.
This way the adapter is experiencing less force by button presses.
4 different frequency autofire for each port:
The 4 different autofire can be activated by the joystick and the adapter together. the 4 direction on the joystick defines the 4 different frequency.
The activation method, is while holding your joystick to one of the 4 directions you press the swap button on the adapter.
After this, autofire is ready. You can start it by simpley pressing the fire button, and can stop it by pressing fire again.
To deactivate it, you need to press and hold the fire button, while you press tha swap button on the adapter. After this the joystick will behave normal.
On pin 5 and 9 it handles analogue signal:
This means that the adapter is compatible with 2 or eve 3 button joysticks, paddles, gamepad, and so on. It also is swapping these as it does normal joysticks when pressing the swap button.
(I am not owning a Commodore 64 mouse so I could not test, but it should also work. A Commodore 64 mouse is basically sending the same signals as a paddle pair does.)
Static discharge protection:
The adapter has static discharge protection (3 small cips on its buttom.), that is wired directly to all data lines on both ports on the Commodore (Also does pin 5 and 9).
Also as the adapter is driven by a microcontroller, the pins from 1-4 and pin 6 is not in direct connection with the adapters external ports.
5V is availale on both ports. (Some joysticks having additional circuits are needing this.)
Status leds:
Green led is showing that the adapter is working correctly / active status.
Yellow led is showing port swap status. (When lit, the ports are swapped.)
Simple joystick tester:
When a key/direction is pressed on a joystick the green led goes to off state. When is released, the green led will go on again.
Leds can be turned off:
Long pressing the swap button, turns both leds off. (During poweron tha status is still shown for 2 secounds, than the leds go to off status)
The adapter is storing its main settings:
This means that it will remember swap status and led status even after power cycle.
Asking 32 USD for + 15 USD postage (Tracked) (Because of new customs changes within the US, sending from EU to USA is suspended.)
Paypal or direct bank transfer is possible.
Paypal (In case of Paypal transfer, there is additional cost PayPal is adding. Is 4,4% of total price + 0,3 USD fixed fee. So the math is as follows: 47 USD + 2,368 USD = 49,368 USD)
or direct bank transfer is possible. (Total price is: 32 USD + 15 USD = 47 USD)
