I could be interested in the PS3 subject to a bit of information.

Is this the version of PS3 that allows backward compatibility with PS1 & PS2 games? Something to do with the Emotion chip being on this model?

I dont think the CECHL03 is backwards compatable there were a few consoles with hardware support that came 1st then they droped that for emulation support for a while. and i think the CECHL03 was one of the 1st to not have either..

Im not 100% on it so id double check.

Mine is CECHC04, which is PS1/PS2 backward compatible.

Looks like your CECH04 is only emulating PS1 & 2 Games, so I wouold be guessing your model doesn't have the Emotion Chip.

CECHA looks like the best all rounder to go for for maximum features, though the UK is not included in the Region suffix codes. I guess I need to look out for an Import or get one from the far East. Looks like BluRay playback has several constraints which I wasn't aware of either. Thanks again for the brilliant link.

thats stupid removing backward capability

when it 1st released they blamed poor sales on the retail price so they changed to emulation to reduce costs, then that didnt really work either so they droped that to lower the price again.. Funny thing is i never really noticed a price diferene when it came to retail. and the things are still stupid expensive if you want to buy one new retail

Hm, probably, but I've tested a few without any problems. So what an obvious difference would be if a game runs emulated or with the Emotion Chip?

I've bought my PS3 the very first day it was launched (23 March 2007). So CECHA models with the Emotion Chip never released in Europe, but only in Japan or USA?

A week ago I was having a titanium plate and screws removed from my right leg so you'll have to forgive me being a bit late in catching up with a few threads/feedback/etc
