The 3a runs on batteries and wasn't supplied with a PSU. You could get a 9v adaptor if you did want to run it off the mains and save the batteries though...
Yep, works fine although the internal battery for the memory (watch battery type thing) needs replacing, otherwise when the 2 x AA's run out it loses anything you've entered.
