I've already noted 1 member possibly trying this, demanding more info inc extra photo's and version numbers, for the whole thread to view, be warned I wont tolerate harassment,
some members give VERY limited info in a sales thread and was asked "privately" to increase the amount of info as a suggestion not a rule to help with the sale.
YES I WILL BE ASKING FOR MORE PHOTOS !!!
The seller doesn't sell it for 5 euro so I want to know what condition is an item I'm buying.
The chip version IS IMPORTANT as well as detailed condition of the computer.
You really expect I will buy a pig in a poke without knowing what is inside - it's ridiculous assumption?
Before spending my hard earned money as a buyer I want to know the condition of the item I'm buying.

And I never asked for extended tests. And YES - there is a difference if you sell CPU or a card and whole computer.
Detailed info about the item IS A MUST not a good will of the seller.

@Sardine do you remember our little chat in this thread of yours?

I really can't understand your previous post.

completely different subject and off topic for this thread.

thats about listing an item "for sale" with the clause "not guaranteed to arrive working" or "sold as is no returns"

we added the prefix's "Untested" or "for parts" not to confuse a potential buyer who see's the opposite in this thread, reems and reems of information overload with a small section hidden in plain site "not guaranteed to arrive working" or "sold as is no returns "

this thread is about buyers complaints that we need to add rules or "force" a seller to give more information when demanded. not going to happen.

You can ask but, If the seller says no or ignores your request, then you simply move on. If you yourself or any other member persist to harass any seller in the thread or private you will likely be enjoying a free holiday courtesy of Amibay (y)

This specific A1200 m/b turned out to be faulty.
It was advertised as working.
So... You are saying to buy with blind eyes because if I ask some questions I am harassing the seller.

if you're interested in buying the item feel free to ask questions to get the info you need to make your buying decision, if you're not interested in the item move along and don't comment.

edit: if you're concerned about the integrity of a sale such as misleading information, please report the post so the admins can take a look

No. When I have the suspicion that something might be defective, I will say it! no matter what you say or if my journey to Amibay will be limited 🙂

The mods have been very patient and accommodating to your concerns, however at this point I feel that you are just trolling or being obtuse.

Amibay totally support adding useful information to sales threads if you can help, however you have and are crossing a line into harassment and this is not acceptable.

You told me if I am not interested, not to comment and move on.
I'm done here because you think I am trolling 🙂

Incorrect. I am not saying that at all. You are.

You can ask a million and one questions, harass the seller etc but, the item may still end up arriving faulty. So your millions of questions were futile. You would then go through the procedure to resolve the issues.

You can debate this all you want but don't say you haven't been warned.

When I have the suspicion that something might be defective, I will say it

You need to have a proof IMO to say something is defective.
Suspicions alone are not enough to accuse someone.

Not everyone here is a retro hardware mastermind and/or has skills, time, patience to do detailed photos, descriptions and thorough testing.

As stated above, if you do not get answers you expect, simply move on and do not buy.
AmiBaY is just a trading forum / venue with simple rules, not a professional marketplace with complicated terms of use and policies.

just so everyone is aware,,

if a member was to abuse the "declare interest" button to try and "strong arm or squeeze" more information from a seller this is against whatever ethos of Amibay you want to rule on,, rules are here to help and protect members not to wield as a weapon against members,

if a seller sells a CPU with a 200x200 photo
"CPU for sale 060 rv1, $xxx "

that's it, trying to force a multitude of extra photo's, more information , lengthy testing scores and graphs, then your in the wrong forum.

if you feel and others agree not enough info is available that just tough, the item wont sell, simple..

just because a listing doesn't meet a members specific requitements and falls short on that members expectations then get used to being disappointed.

a member can "request" more info but doesn't have to,
a member can declare pending info then PM the seller, if no more info is forthcoming the buyer is quite welcome to withdraw from the sale but it must NOT be used as a method of harassment to a seller trying to threaten with reporting the thread, asking for a MOD's/admins opinion etc.

ALL SALE threads are NOT for any idle chit chat , negotiations or general "I want more photo's and detailed test results, proof its plugged in and working "

not going to happen,. move on.

Edit:-

I've already noted 1 member possibly trying this, demanding more info inc extra photo's and version numbers, for the whole thread to view, be warned I wont tolerate harassment,
some members give VERY limited info in a sales thread and was asked "privately" to increase the amount of info as a suggestion not a rule to help with the sale.

I can see that again this is "hit and run" policy by sardine with one personal post and then no answer.
Explain why I can not ask for information about the item?
This is 30+ years old computer and every aspect matters. Including chip versions and state of the plastic clips to assess the work and money needed after the purchase.
And YES - if I fell it is needed I WILL ask for "lengthy testing scores and graphs". Especially if the price is leg and arm.
No, I will not "get used to being disappointed" but WILL be asking for more photos until I will be satisfied with the info obtained before transferring thousands euro for the item that may be not worth a penny due to lack of description and photos.
Yes - "I want more photo's and detailed test results, proof its plugged in and working " This is my right as a buyer. The word "working" means nothing. The proof of working is much more important for any buyer than your proof of ownership which now become mod's fetish. Is it really important if there is word "amibay" or not or the date is today, not yesterday? I think no. The important fact for buyer is to see the item IS working. Not the word "amibay" on a paper.
You are repeatedly making personal and mocking comments towards me in the forum as well as in PMs for almost a year now.
I consider you are making poor job here as a mod as you only keeps escalating the conflicts, not resolving.

Maybe rather than calling buyers problematic because they have questions, we will finally address an elephant in the room.
There is only one new trader here that showed up recently that makes 200x200 photos with NO description of items which looks like just pulled out of the trash can (which they are according to my knowledge - from electronics-recycling center to be exact) and is teetering on the edge of what you call "scalping" in the rules.
Maybe he should adapt to all in his sales, not the other way around.
Probably in your opinion we should pay the price no questions asked (except how much to pay additional for shipping) but this is not how market works.

The way I have been reading into this is that we can ask questions of a seller. Which is great.. Mods and Admins have a hard enough job as it is.. But it is a job their here to do (Albeit free of charge).

If you have a problem with a sales post etc.. Then as stated “report it”. Too much gung ho going on at the moment which to me puts this place at un-ease.

My 2 cents. I too get frustrated with some sales threads (Stress some and not all). Where I look at something and think, hmmm! That doesn’t look right. On the very few occasions I had a problem with a bought item off a member, then it was resolved between buyer and seller. The moral of the story here, if you don’t like an item or you think the seller is being dishonest, then “DO NOT BUY IT” or “REPORT IT”. Remember we have Mods and admins for a reason. Let them do their job whilst you are happy to be a member of a place that you can get items that normally you wouldn’t get.

Recently I saw a “For Sale” thread and was genuinely interested. Yes the seller had neglected not to have put a revision or specified what or what not was tested.. But I declared my interest and used the “PM”, “Start Conversation”. I also made mention (Due to what has been going in as of late), of my true intentions so to put the seller (As well as to indicate to admins/mods my true intentions) at ease that I was not harassing them etc.. I had a polite conversation with the seller and asked my questions. Unfortunately the item was not the right revision for me nor a particular part of the item was proven tested. I withdrew and stated on the thread why. To me this is how we should be doing things. There are too many sales threads at the moment that are turning into general question times and opinions.

But going forward and not taking sides here. If I were a seller on here and someone wanted to ask me a question on what I am selling, then I would like it to be in a calm manner. I.e not in UPPERCASE or with any type of “!” At the end of the sentence as that would put people’s backs up. Also to follow the rules and use the “Declare Interest” button if generally interested. Take it up on “PM” with the seller. If not happy or interested then maybe in a calm manner just state why you have withdrawn interest. Ideally if the item is not as described or something has been missed. Leave it at that.

@Picard I'd like to reply to some of your questions.

The reason we ask for the word AmiBay and insist when it isn't there is to stop unscrupolous members pinching photos from elsewhere and pretending it is their item.
Some scammers have done this in the past.

There is also no reason to ask questions about an item unless you are interested in it.
Members who are interested and have declared so are welcome to ask any question about the item.
Interest can be withdrawn later as Boing-Ball did and others have done in the past.

You've been asked to report posts which you have concerns about - this is the way it should be done so that we are aware of any possible problems.

I'd like to quote two of the numerous rules that are in place to protect all our members

Admin and Moderator Instructions
These people keep the site running, out of their own time, and with no reward, so if they ask you to desist from any forum activity, do so or you could have limitations placed on your membership of AmiBay.
Behaviour
Trolling, foul language and offensive or inflammatory comments will be moderated....

If you or anyone else continues on this barrage of contentious behaviour they will be getting a holiday to enable them to contemplate their behaviour.

No, this is not how it's done.

You declare interest, and you are then in the que, you then PM the seller if you're first (or next) in line.

There is no need to state true intentions. There is nothing in the rules about a buyer stating true intentions. By declaring interest, you have stated your intention. You clicked the green Declare Interest button. You're then in the que, you have 24 hours to PM and then the seller moves on. All as per the rules.

He knows everything, how and why.
He decided to do it this exact way because he wanted to do it like this.
Do not explain the rules to him 😊

Indeed….

If I wasn’t of a curious nature this rule maybe being broken as well…

Luckily that member is one on my blocked/Ignored list… 😉👍🏻 Therefore I don’t see the comments so not to get involved in any slanging matches 🙄

@darefail Thanks for answering that concern of The poster. Not that I am chastising your reply 😉🤣👍🏻
