Anyone buying this or at least interested?

Developers love ending the world. Rage, id software's first new IP in fifteen years, is set during the aftermath of an asteroid impact which wiped out the majority of human life. Survivors reformed, fashioning ramshackle cities or joining bandit gangs who roam the wasteland killing or maiming anyone who gets close. Combat racing became the norm. Food, water and supplies became scarce. Fairly typical stuff for the apocalypse.

There's a sense of familiarity about Rage that extends beyond the setting, at least at first. The game opens with you emerging from your Ark, a kind of apocalypse get-out-of-jail-free card, and instantly having to team up with the leader of a local settlement. From here, you're sent out into the wasteland with quests, travelling between a couple of mission areas and towns on a series of fetch- or kill-quests. Borderlands springs to mind, and for a while it seems like the game is going to be a fairly mundane clone of Gearbox's 2009 title.

A few hours in though - once you reach Wellsprings, Rage's first major town - the differences begin to make themselves clear.

Will download it 1st to play through it quickly, then buy it at the end of the month.

I know a lot of folks say ID games aren't complex enough in todays battlefield and call of duty era. But I like it that way. Shooting things is most important to me :)

mmm i think it maybe good but... slightly shallow ?

reviews will tell us i suppose, i may hang on just a bit before i buy

Simple is good, I like simple. I may give it a go, I wasn't going to bother TBH.

I bought it, it is a bit simple, as in all the missions are waypointed and you get lead to where they happen.

But it is a fun shooter so far and the car combat isn't too bad.

There are some graphic issues with ATI cards on the PC but they seem to be working on them with AMD already releasing a fix.

Dual GTX 580's with a 4.8GHz i7 1156 CPU struggle with this game @1920 x 1080 with all the eye candy turned on. It's almost another Crisis hit in terms of fps, but wow @ the hanging smoke in the air. Simply stunning even if dropping some fps for it. Gameplay is another matter of course & one I can not really comment about having only seen it running on my partners friends, gaming rig. Draw dropping visuals for sure.

It is pretty buggy, few patches and it will run smoother on less power.

I can't say that I am impressed... certainly not ground-breaking like doom/quake were.
Also it runs fine on my i7/2600 with a 560ti @ 1920x1200 , now what settings it uses I have no idea LOL

ID software are my old skool favourite publishing house so I will likely buy Rage to support ID software :)

It is also the first game to preview the new ID software game engine I believe :)

So if you have a awesome PC you'll likely get a little glimpse of the future!! :)

it's pretty but thats about it, nothing new to see here, please move along:)

Same, just aquired it and installed on my PC. Runs fine on my basic Rig, some screen tearing but smooth.

AMD X2 4400+ 2gb Ram & GTX260(896mb) @1680x1050 :)

Meh Game though...

have you applied the 1gb!! patch? apply patch then tick the vsync box, tearing gone:thumbsup:

Meh as in "Typical idsoftware shooter" or "Meh, it's no crysis 2 or half-life"?

I'm fine with that, the thought of another fallout type game would drive me insane :)

How the hell did this pass QC i never know with the missing gfx. Even with the ATI fix it locks up just as you exit the first area every time.

The game seems good but with the crashing and shit i dont even want to play it without a full working patch.
