Rapidroad A1200 version... will it work on an XSurf100?

I have two rapidroad boards.

One of these is an A1200 version. Is there something special about it? because it looks identical to the one that sits on my XSurf100,
but has acrylic protection attached to it!

Was thinking about removing the acrylic and fitting the pcb to another xsurf100.

Have tried this with mixed conclusions. I believe the ones in the cases have a different code on the chip to the X-surf-100 versions. Feel free to try it. But on the last one I tried on an X-Surf it looked like it was working, but then when trying USB devices would fail. Did the same on one where I blew the Clockport side for the A1200 but miraculously worked when using it on a X-Surf. Good luck

Do you know if it goes the other way too? I have an xsurf-100 with rapid road on its way and I’m wondering if I may be able to use the rapid road in my A1200 instead…

The X-Surf versions have no acrylic case. I believe the Clockport is also disabled. Also be very careful with these in a A1200, they are designed not to be used by hot plugging in and unplugging USB devices as they can blow the Clockport side of the card when the machine is on. I had 3 that did this to me. Jens is adamant that it’s always down to using a proper power supply. I would look at the freeway USB Clockport cards sold on here as an alternative for the A1200. Yeah probably better off with freeway USB. I have a freeway triton lite in one of my big boxes and it’s great
