I know this is a really stupid question, and 20 odd years ago I could have answered it myself no problem, but....

I want to start Igame when workbench starts.
My Igame directory is within System/program
How (exactly) do i edit the startup sequence to make this happen?
best I can do seems to run an Amigados window with an error about not finding igame. :picard

Please put this poor noob out of his misery :banghead:

Many Thanks

Just edit startup-sequence adding the following line after LoadWB command:
Code:
C:WBRun SYS:System/Program/iGame/iGame >NIL:

It's not advised to alter the original startup-sequence (as you are a noob). If you have a hard drive installed, then everything must be done under user-startup.

I never used WBRun (I don't remember if this part of the default installation), but if you don't have it, just use Run.

Put iGame in WBStartup drawer

Tried that and it runs but its an empty version rather than the one in the Programs drawer.

Its now sorted, and after much swearing and wondering why I dont seem to able to follow simple instructions (I got left with unknown command errors, open dos windows, all sorts), adding the following to the end of the user-startup has worked :

C:RUN >NIL: DH0:Programs/iGame/iGame

So, many thanks guys - much appreciated.

I have only recently come across Igame - is this the best such launcher out there? Only other thing I might like is for it to show a screen shot of the game.(or does it do that and i just dont know how)

There is an archive including many IFF images for iGame, where you have to put each image with the same name if I remember correctly into each game's drawer (game.iff?).

Not that i've checked but you probably either needed to specify the data file for your scanned directories somehow (tooltype maybe?) or maybe you needed to move that file to WBStartup as well. Couldn't say without checking it though. But since you got it working anyway it's not needed anymore.

You have to put both program and icon .info into WBStartUp in order to work.

I never used WBRun (I don't remember if this part of the default installation), but if you don't have it, just use Run.

Run works just fine if your program doesn't use any tooltypes on it's icon.
If it does, then none of these are passed to the program alas it might not work correctly.
WBRun runs the programs like you would have clicked the icon, alas maintaining all tooltypes etc.

I'm not quite sure of the differences it has with WBRun2 that exists on ClassicWB packs but both run ok from what I know. More information can be provided by Zetr0 as he was messing a lot with both versions when he was making the Game Guide of his.

Great info - even though it works as I posted, perhaps I will try WBRun and WBRun2 just for the hell of it as I am running CWB 3.9.

Cheers again for all the help
