Sorry never saw the attraction with the original so not that fussed about the new either.

i think it repeats again on dave at 12.00 on dave not shure though shoonay.
Unless they stream online that's gonna be problem for me ;)
Oh well, I'm sure it will leak sooner or later.

Back on topic: Personally I wasn't very excited with Back to Earth, it just didn't feel the same for me, but it was okay I guess.
The good old intellectual and funny plots from the first few seasons were kinda lost in the last few seasons...

I've watched it twice now :p

It was actually quite good... It's not quite Polymorph, but it was enjoyable... Kinda how it used to be, but it was just missing a little something... (little things like: Cat should have complained about the uniform he had to wear... No-one called Rimmer a smeg head...)

I'd say it's about 75% as good as the oldies... But that's still passable for me :p

Nooooooo! I've been waiting for this for so long and then I bloody missed it! Didn't get home from work till after 10pm and had no idea it was being shown. Why did I not see any adverts for it anywhere? And why didn't someone on here alert us to its approach? :(

I hope Dave is reshowing it sometime before the next one. I'm off now to do a search on the Sky planner.

enjoyed it.
liked it better compared to the last effort..
possibly even better than seriese 7.
not as good as the earlier ones.. but for a 1st eppisode of the seriese it was good enough for me to want to see the next eppisode.
they should bring back holly. "the male one" i enjoyed the things he got up to just to elivioate the boredom.
"queeg, holly hop drive and so on"

yeah...since it seems Norman Lovett is still around i was hoping we would get surprised with a "What's up, Dudes?" about halfway through the episode...would've been nice...

I always preferred female Holly, apart from Queeg. He was good in that.

I liked it, not as much as I thought I might, but I had a chuckle several times. It was actually a little better the second time round as I watched the repeat at 1140 as well.
Looking forward to the rest now. :)

I was worried that it would be poor as I liked the original series back in the day, but I was pleasantly surprised and quite enjoyed it.

I have been so looking forward to this, ahhh but when I am back in Japan it has to start again :( I need to see if there is a torrent of it yet.

i thought TROJAN was brilliant, the episode made me think it was going to be about condoms tho LOL

An excellent suggestion sir

An excellent suggestion sir

I was out of it last night after a 5.30am start, completely forgot that it was on and forgot to set it to record earlier in the week.

But then I had an idea, why not just watch it on Virgin catch-up tv! But then imaginary Kryten spoke up and said well done and all, but it wouldn't work for two reasons: 1. The hard drive from my virgin tv box is running xp on my spare computer and 2. we have sky now.

So I've found it on Dave tomorrow night and set the series to record. I'd better delete some star treks cos that box can'nae take nae moor!
:double

Or I could just go here

I just have to say ..... it was the moose!

Loose? Aboot this hoose?

Cue mad scottish kilt wearing, bagpipe playing and dancing.

Just watched it on Dave online and have to say, I'm pretty happy. It was never going to regain the edginess it had back in the 80's/90's but it's better than Series 7 & 8. Ready for more!

I downloaded a DaveHD rip of it overnight.. You can probably get it from most TV catch up sites...

I also have the Blu-Ray pre-ordered :p

Ah man I love Red Dwarf and was a little fearful about what this new series would be like. I have to say I was very surprised. Not quite Mr Fibble (remember that? - loved that penguin, king of the potato people) but still good.

Interesting teaser trailer after the show - the new computer looks like it (she) will be called Pree, so no more Holly. I did like both old Hollies but nothing stays the same :)

No Kochanski yet - wonder if she will return.

Do they really think that their audience has dumbed down? Having to explain jokes.... not funny.

There were some really good bits, like the moose question on the exam.

The models were great, music great, sets & lighting... ok bit too set like in places.

I do wish that they hadn't ****ed off Norman Lovett (Holly) three years ago and he was back in it. The extra character and his dry wit was a good complement for the show.
