I purchased a new (second-hand) car last weekend and went to use the slot loading CD drive and it wouldn't take the CD in. A bit of exploration and I could see a CD was already stuck in the drive. The car's computer system was sometimes taking a few seconds to boot up when the car was cold and now I know why, the drive was trying to read the stuck CD and hanging the system until it gave up and continued.
Anyway... how to get the stuck CD out of the drive? Things like removing the unit and dismantling the top of the drive came to mind, but I thought I would try some tweezers first, but couldn't get a grip on the disc because every time I tried to grab it the drive would start to spin it.

So I decided to do a quick Google search before resorting to something more drastic and dismantling the drive/dash.. and I found a really simple solution that worked perfectly first time.
All you need to do is get a plastic card, credit card or similar, and some sellotape. Take a piece of tape slightly longer than 2 lengths of the credit card and wrap it around the card, sticky side out, with some of the tape towards you from the card. Now stick the card in the drive and move it around a bit until the tape sticks to the disc, and take the card out, leaving the tape attached to the disc. Now just pull to unjam and remove the disc from the drive. Sometimes pressing the eject button or powering on the drive as you pull helps. Worked perfectly for me.
