I have just bought (well technically, a friend) an SD2IEDC kit from www.sinchai.de and followed this manual to put together:

http://www.sinchai.de/index.ph...45792bc93e

To cut a long story short, it did not work.

1. When I switch on the C64 the 'red light' switches on for two seconds then goes out
2. I tried to list files found inside the SD Card but it either hangs at "searching" or says that device not ready (or something along those lines).
3. I have tried changing the switch settings 8/9 and 10/11 but really did no difference

Is this thing supposed to work out of the box or I have to flash the firmware to it?

Thanks a lot in advance for help!

I too have an SD2IEC. I have noticed its VERY fussy on SD cards - in fact out of 8 I own, only one works perfectly, and that's a 256mb one. Keep trying with smaller SD cards!

hi I have used a 2 4 and 8 gb trancend card with mine. mine has a green light too

also try formating to fat32

The device must start with the green LED, then the red will light up and both goes off. If one of the LEDs are not on, you have some problem with the unit.

The very same as a real 1541 floppy unit.

Problem solved. Had two wires on the serial bus connector switched!

Now works like a charm

No

I had one of these. Could never get on with it. There are easier and more reliable products available.
