Honestly, being a total WipEout freak, I say no more Wipeout games please. It was done to death (just like every other diluted franchise out there) and is probably the reason why Studio Liverpool got shut down.
If this is the true reason why Studio Liverpool were closed then it might be due to the high number of past customers that think the same as me, that Wipeout peaked at Wipeout 2097 and then somehow lost it's way and never recovered.
I think Wipeout 2097 was such a balanced game.
I appreciate that the graphics are very good for Playstation 1, but would be a disappointment on Playstaion 2 and later, but my personal feelings are that the graphics are the only areas that required improvement: Just like AV did with F-Zero GX on the Gamecube.
I also think that the tracks, graphics and sound are all areas that went downhill in Wipeout 3. There are some cracking tunes on there, but I expected to see updates of the tracks featured in Wipeout 2097, and how they would change a few years later.
I didn't like the new menu system either, and felt that it was a step backwards from 2097.
I felt that the strongest part of Wipeout 3 were the logo sequence in the intro, but even the intro felt like a step backwards.
Wipeout Fusion looked great and is pretty fun to play, but it is still a step backwards from 2097 in my view. I really don't like the way the game is crippled until you have played it for a few weeks.
I haven't played the Playstation 3 version yet as I don't have one yet.
