Hi Zetr0,

I am interested in your adapter and a set of roms for a +3 if they are still available. I would like to make a CF version, as I'm not sure i would know how to add files to the other version! :unsure:

Let me know if these are still available and i shall PM my info.

Cheers,
Rowan

I too am interested in one of these, for a Spectrum +3. However I can't PM until I get a couple of posts under my belt.

If i had one of these devices and had the +3e or +2e roms could i fit a 3.5inch disk drive to it ?

@Morcar

yes... any IDE hard-disk 2.5" / 1.8" / 3.5" even 5.25" will work with the IDE adapter

you will need to power for the ide device - personally for low amperage devices I would run from the PSU input (there's a +12v / +5v and Ground solder point) for larger current requirements if using the standard PSU then i would probably look at getting another power source in there for the unit - or have the unit external.

However most new 2.5" and certainly 1.8" IDE devices would work okay with drawing power from the Motherboard.

largest physical disk I have used is a 2.5" 30GB HDD that gives me upto 15GB capacity - it would be a struggle to use a 10th of that to be honest - I just plumbed one up for Kicks, and since the adapter allows for two IDE devices I copied the data from my earlier 64MB straight over

Although after making 20 partitions, I got bored with trying to come up with names - and I kinda had the will taken out of me when there was still over 4,000 free partitions available....

(you can have upto 65,535 partitions, each partition can be a maximum size of 16MB) or 1TB of maximum addressable space ... before you ask... no... I haven't tried a 2TB HDD on my Spectrum lol!

sounds very interesting can you let me know please how much one of these will cost along with new roms as i have a ZX Spectrum +2A

thank you

the Specrtum +2A and +2B are the same (black) Spectrum 128k +2, the only difference is where they were manufactured.

very VERY early issue Spectrum +2A motherboards were infact +3 motherboards without the Floppy drive controller and glue logic (these can be repopulated to add FDD functionality)

PM on route

Sorry my friend, I missed it

By the way - I have already put one of these aside for you =)

Little unsure what this does, sorry :unsure:

Does this device allow you play software on a real spectrum from a SD card?

WOWOW so what spectrums does it work on?

Does it load tape & disk images from the CF card?

@beaps

you would need to convert the tapes to work from Hard Disk.

infact a friend of mine has done loads of these so I will put up a how-to with some legal for distrbution stuff =)

Ok so if I wanna run .dsk files this would do the trick on my Spectrum +3?

I think I get it now mate.

Yer I am interested in one of these with the updated roms also.

Also does it come with the compact flash ide thing is that separate?

@K6dude

I am truly sorry I seem to have missed that one... let me go check.
