Hi guys,

I'm trying to install a SubwayUSB on a fully expanded A1200 using an old brick A500 PSU that never failed me.

Software install goes well it detects the controller and goes online but all the USB ports seem dead. Nothing is detected when plugged in, mouse, pens etc,. I'm wondering if the PSU is not strong enough to handle the USB ports along with everything else.

But if this was the case wouldn't the machine just crash instead of not detecting anything?

I didn't really want to change PSU but if this is the case I guess it's time for old brick retirement. :(

think I would try another PSU, the old brick do not deliver as much power today as 20 years ago.

1260 eats power

Do you have a (good quality) powered port expander to take the burden off the Subway? If so use it, if not get one: good quality from respectable seller.

Hope you don't mind me asking an obvious question, but can you double check the USB cables that connect to the Subway's header are connected correctly?

Ahh! good news! the usb cables were not connected correctly to the subway as you can see in the photo. It's working now. (Yes I know, I'm thinking the same about myself...)

Man, this is a special moment. When you connect the USB stick and see it popping up for the first time; New device found. USB stick: 16GB free. Have fun.

Oh. and thanks a lot for your help!

Glad you got it working and very glad you didn't cook it! :explode

I'm having issues with the poseidon 4.4 and subway.
Controllers: subwayusb.device Unit 0 Online Yes.
Devices: Hub (****/****) Full Running

the error log msg is:
Failure hub.class GET_HUB_DESCRIPTOR (1) failed: endpoint stall (4)

Please help.

@Hezor, is your subway working even with this error? It may be referring to another USB hub which you may have connected to it perhaps.

I defenitly would not run that much with stock A500 brick, even if it was to protect the investment.

I hope so, poseidon was pre-installed with spider.device, but I reinstalled the v4.4 and added the subway.device, what do you suggest?
How do I know if my subway is ok and this is only a software error?

On an A1200, Subway problems are definitly power related.

I am usually powering my A1200 (desktop, USB optical mouse on the mouse port, Blizz 1260, SCSI kit, 2 SIMM, Mas Player, Indi MK1, real HD, external floppy and Subway) from an A500 brick. Everything is stable, but power hungry USB devices usually won't work or are seen by Poseidon but are "powercycling". I got the same behaviour from Mechy's PSU. However, a Goliath PSU allows me on the same setup to use any USB device, even an hungry USB floppy drive.
With the A500 brick, even an externally powered hub is no good, and anything after the hub powercycles.
Get yourself a Goliath or an ATX modded PSU, if you can stand the fan noise.

I can only suggest that if you plug in a device and it works then your subway is ok . As for the software error I don't really know about that, just trying to offer some help :)

Apparently there is a yahoo group for the Amiga USB products where the developers are active, but I am not a member there.

ATX powered thru mediator or Micronik psu (like goliath), same result.

Plugged a usb stick, but no led power nor blink, I've recently bought the subway, connected it properly, are there any incompatibility issues?
I will forward the problem to the yahoo group If possible.

I can only repeat what I've read on the web: Connect your Subway/Highway/Algor/Deneb to a good quality (I think Chris says this on his site) powered USB hub and let the powered hub power your devices. This is the most reliable way. I have 2 quality hubs and both exceeded the cost of a large pizza with everything.

That's not working for me with the Subway: the hub is always recognized but anything on the hub works bad (even mere USB keys) and powercycles.

However the Deneb works perfect with externally powered hub.

The truth is that the Subway is a very weak (and slow) expansion and that we need a new USB solution for A1200. Maybe we can coun't on Individual Computers to make something useful with the Poseidon rights they bought.

I do hope this is some kind of software error from poseidon stack, as the subway is brand new and it's connected properly and insulated.
Chris said I should use the online bug report form, I'll have to connect her online for that. I do have expensive (many pizzas) and inexpensive hubs, but I use an ATX psu thru mediator, or a goliath style psu thru a12k mobo, both have the same results, so I don't think it's a power issue. In the worst scenario of RMA is there a return policy?

Wow, power should not be Your Problem. Since so many people use their Subways without issue, I'm afraid you're looking at an RMA issue.

I'll give it a shot connecting online and see if I can get an RMA ticket thru vesalia
