Can you please answer this,I can't get this thing to load a tap file, its stuck at 0%,its not the cable that connects to the c64,I check it with my mulitmeter and it has continuity and its fine,so its something on the board,I did notice that the 5 resistors that came with the kit are not the same as on the picture on your Google drive, they are smaller in size.I don't know how to go about troubleshooting this board,I don't know where to start..Its like its not reading the tap file and translating it to a sound..??

Please I need help. anyone..??

This is the picture of the board on Google Drive, your picture.

This is my board see the resistors are different..?

And have I got the small chip round the right way,cos this chip don't have a little dot on it,its the chip on the left side of the board..?

When I put this board together all I did was copy the picture of where everything went.

Thanks..

Yes I was thinking thats too,it being the wrong way, thanks for replying, have not look at the other thread yet, sorry.

I have answered you on the Tapuino general thread: https://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?63166-Tapuino-the-20-C64-Tape-Emulator&p=826592#post826592

Resistors are smaller but are the same 470 ohms (yellow-violet-brown) , you have the BOM on the guide, please look at the first page of the thread.

The optocoupler may have the DOT in other way, I can not see clearly in your picture, but looking at the picture on the other thread it may be inserted in the wrong way:

YESSSSS,It was the optocoupler wrong way round, working now,so remember if you get this chip,it has a notch on the top of the chip that has to be at the top.

You know this is the first thing I have made for my C64,Thanks spcbm,oh whats your name,i don't know it..?

My name is Span, but my real name is Nick, but everyone calls me Span, even my family..;),Thanks again for all your help.

Nice to hear you solve the problem.
This optocoupler is hard to see the dot or notch.

sorry to drop a question in here for a 1.7 rev 2 board, but here goes!

so ive finally built my 2nd tapuiono. works great. BUT! - 2 quick questions

I have 1 x part missing, what is it? this >>see yellow square in pic. I assume its optional as the tapuino seems to work:)

my buzzer doesnt make any sound, what should should it make and when?

is that because I haven't got the switch attached either (lost it i think) -whats the switch for, and which of those jumpers can i hard wire to make the switch circuit work?

lastly, FYI I found to my cost that the button spacing had changed between 1.4 boards and 1.7. Almost a nightmare as I'd pre-drilled holes in a c64c case to suit the 1.4, not the 1.7! I bodged it, and got away with a case mod to get rid of the holes...pleased how that turned out. I'll attach a photo later :)

The missing part is a 7 pin mini DIN female socket. It's used to plug a 1531 datassette (the dark brown one) to load files to SD card or from Tapuino to tape.

To hear the sound while loading or recording a program, you need to make a jumper on JP5, near the missing part. From central pin to one of the other 2.
You will hear the priiiiiiiiiiiiiiii while loading , if do not hear anything try the other pin. You can use also a 3 positions switch, ON-OFF-ON. If the sound is too weak you can change R2 from 470 ohms to 100 ohms.

Yes I know the holes are different in 1.4 version, you should use the right version

PD. I remember that 1.7 needs some fixes to make the leds and buzzer circuit work.!!!!

Did you know that the space between the buttons are the same space(length) as the keys on a datassette,or did you do it on purpose,I have mine in my commodore datassette and put the board under the keys of the datassette so all 4 buttons are pressed by pressing Play = Next,Rewind = Prev,F Fwd = Abort,Stop = Select.

This just came to me,thats why I am called Spanner, cos I am good at fingering things out,Iam a good tool..;)

Oh one question whats JP4 for on the board.its the connector on the bottom left near the buttons..?

The space between buttons is just a lucky coincidence:p Is good to know.

JP4 is for connecting external buttons, 1 pin is common and the 4 buttons.
