Thanks!
Will you actually use it or NRFB?
Both. I like to put new hardware through it's paces for a couple of weeks first then decide if it's for the shelf or not.
Thanks!

Sorry (even though I participated in previous debacle about c64 ultimate), it was a genuine question from me. I was curious the people's motivation here. I, for example, don't have much extra space and time (given the number of systems I already have), so have to consider carefully if I am adding anything to my collection.
If we're not willing to put the effort in, how can we expect the young ones to put the effort in Sardine?I'm too old now to be fighting with older hardware, the A1200 I have needs recapping and the expansion port or the 030 board I have servicing, only works if i tilt the 030 board slightly ( tried the pull it out a few mm ), then I have to find a display also not needing recapping that accepts scart rgb input. etc etc etc etc
It has been confirmed that the Amiga Workbench OS will be available on the system. No details on if this will be a bare basic Workbench system or if any custom OS features will be added. It's very likely at the very least that WHDload will again be part of the system.

We need to make these kids work for it a bit! They have it too easy. This will not serve them well later on in life. They'll give up too damn easy. Don't get me started on variable game difficulty. Imagine they'd have to install an OS from scratch? Oh the humanity!I tried that with the kiddies ( now 15 and 11 ) ..... your competing with cod / Roblox / YouTube shorts etc, it has to be easy not make them work for it. They loose interest so quickly.
At Amiga 40 it was still in Alpha, so they haven't even done a Beta, much less a public Beta, so I think we can exclude that@Sardine
I suspect this new THE A1200 might come with the recently mentioned AmigaOS 3.3.
Interesting times ahead it seems ...
Looks like an A1200
Hopefully feels like an A1200
....
yes its not a real A1200 perse , I don't care,,, it will work , get updates and completety Novice or a new user friendly. plug n Go.

if it works to a standard Like the C64 maxi I have / spectrum / etc does then i might just retire my original hardware for ease of use and reliability. so many quality of life improvements that personally i like.
Well, these machines you listed have something in common, but I won't talk about it.C64 Ultimate, Spectrum Next, Mega65 or Commander X16 sound like interesting upgrades (over historic 8-bit baseline) not only in the area of modern connectors or modern reliability, but in other areas as well.
Here, I beg to differ. Commodore Amiga 1200 has become a beloved machine because it is a fantastic baseline. Clean motherboards, 2meg Chip, 020, AGA of course, IDE, the wedge we love. These are all significant upgrades on the most popular 500. You can do so much with an Amiga 1200. You can just throw in a CF card and some Fast RAM and disco - no issues. You can flickerfix with a DVI/VGA out, 030, and be leaving bunch of Amiga setups in the dust and not spend that much. You can put it in a CheckMate1500 with a TF1260 and rock Amiga 3000 looks, while having AGA and a way lower cost and bunch of power. OK, no zorro slots, but slot limitations have been overcome by incredibly dedicated individuals coming up with solutions. Now, I admit it is really hard to upgrade original A1200. It was a great system and it is very hard to do anything here reasonably with limited time/resources. A3000 or A4000 is upgrade over A1200 hence why these machines now cost so much. But we cannot expect new systems with such level of expandability.
What I meant is release 'upgraded A1200' as a product now in 2025. Seems to me we are getting cost-reduced one (sure with modern ports etc).Well, these machines you listed have something in common, but I won't talk about it.

That's why I asked if there will be a black setLet's hope the plastics don't yellow over time ... or should that too be a part of the retro Amiga experience?![]()
It's coming. 100%. You heard it from me first. December 2026.That would be my question, is there also coming a black edition ?
Indeed, couldnt agree moreI am very excited this is happening, one more way to inject Amiga into our lives and for non collectors to relive the magic and regain a taste of computing from back when it was fun and everything was possible
On the latter point, I am even more excited about the vision Perifractic has for the new Commodore, and eagerly await the possibility of a new development path for humane computing that is less toxic and the right blend of useful and fun
Been thinking about this. You know...chances of a black A1200.At present only available in Amiga beige. There has been no other colours officially announced yet.
Speculation and crystal ball readings by other members here, not withstanding![]()
