Hi

More and more BGA-IC:s are glued after soldered. Either on the edges of the chip, or below, or both. I found a chemical solution (link) and a mechanic tool (link) that claims to help removing the glue. Has anyone tried one (or both) these methods, and can recommend either (or both) of them?

The BGA:s I'm about to remove are going to be used elsewhere, so it's of utter importance the glue-remover does not damage the chip.

There was a video on youtube of somebody removing a BGA chip with the proper re-work station tools. Their prep work had them using the heatgun to soften the glue enough to pull it off! I shall check my video history and see if it is there :)

Sounds like one of Louis Rossman's videos. He calls it "underfill" and directly blames "touch death" on particular iPhone models on lack of underfill for the touch IC.
