Oooh, PSU on the bottom, I like.

I've always thought it bad design to have the heaviest component suspended in the air by 4 small screws. If it were to come off it would come crashing down onto the video card...

Well it would have to be some rough handlign to make all 4 snap(!)
And many cases with top mounting have a flange or something to support the power supply a bit, at least the ones I've had.

Grats on the new rig btw! Looking good.

i couldnt recommend asus boards personally ;) gl with the comp though steve

That was some major dust build up on that old fan! I've never seen one that bad, but pretty close. I normally clean out the inside of my PCs of dust about once every couple of months, and the front filters once a week to prevent that. So much dust must have raised the temps.

I can not believe some of the posts in this thread!! why would some people diss the mans new PC just because he used parts that maybe you wouldn't?

ignore the haters Steve, and enjoy your new PC, i hope you have a lot of fun with it mate:)

I just tested Modern Warfare 3 and it runs smooth on all highest settings so can't complain. Have asked the missus to pick up Crysis 2 for me whilst she's out shopping :)

You must have another sense of smoothness than I, because I've had 260's in SLI in MW2 and that was only just about smooth on highest all

Have fun with the new rig tho!

Always sworn by Asus myself. Never been disappointed.

Agree. Just never cheap out on the mobo. Doesn't matter which brand, the mobo will always be the central system component :) Cheap mobo = cheap chipset = questionable performance.

Thanks guys :)

Yeah that dust was crazy, about 6 months worth I guess - skocking really so will try to clean out more often!

Temps were ok, CPU was less than 30 degrees C idle and 50 under load.

Never had any problems with Asus, I use them or Gigabyte for customer builds and find them nice and reliable. I could cheap out and use ECS or Biostar (Ewwww) but I'd rather not have the hassle, he says looking at a 14 month old Biostar board with bulgy caps...

Likewise PSU, seen so many PCs with little niggly problems all down to a flaky PSU.

Had to laugh at that fluffy HSF.. In my old place, I had a coal fire and 2 long haired pedigree cats. I used to clean a spare cat worth of sooty fluff out of my PC every month.

Have you played Witcher 2 yet?

I haven´t had an AMD cpu for a while but I reckon yours should be plenty enough for that game and it is very, very good indeed.
So when you´re done with the first person shooters, get ready for modern gaming at its best :)

Fantastic games indeed, but the 1st has the slight edge, sure the 2nd looks better though, but it is also a lot shorter. Saying that those extra 4 hours added with todays massive patch will be good.

Mr Fitz,

What PeeCee games do you play online chap?

None at the moment mate due to lack of time, but I've put in some single player MW3, Rage, Dirt3, Crysis 2 on the new Rig :)

My main problem with online gaming these days is you don't get a level playing field anymore, those who play 30-40hrs a week have all the upgraded guns and I have to run around with a pee shooter

Being spawn killed gets old very quick :(

very true mate im the same

Yeah agreed, I actually quit playing BF3 as I seem to have a spud gun and don't play 24/7 :(

Might have to give you a race on Dirt 3 though ;)

Can't play my copy of Dirt3 online, but it seems worthy of getting the full version if you know what I mean ;)

Now if everyone had Spud Guns that would be awesome, I remember the good old days in MOHAA playing 'Pistols only' lol

Next installed my new Motherboard, didn't spend as much on the Motherboard this time.

It's good to see another person who isn't blinded by expensive boards with extra gimmicks that will never get used.... Cheaper boards are perfectly fine for the majority of people unless you're into some extreme OC'ing! I use a Biostar T-Series TH67XE board that only cost me £59.99 new and it has most of the features that more expensive M-ATX boards have (except SLI/Crossfire, but i don't particularly enjoy micro-stutter, compatibility issues, high temps and power consumption anyway :p).
