Wow!! Talk about quick! I had to wait for a little while as there were several people ahead of me on the list. But! When my turn came, I barely turned around and it was on my doorstep! Today is my birthday so the timing is impeccable. Unfortunately, I have my children and grandchildren all at the house today so I haven't been able to actually check it out. I'll report back after I've installed it and put it through it's paces. Thank you Cj

Regarding the Freeway Triton, I'm considering getting one for my A3000. However, and before I fully commit, I'd like to ask a couple of questions regarding what variant I should go for. From what I understand, the Freeway Triton Lite and the Freeway Triton preform the same speed-wise. The main difference between the two cards seem to be the FlashROM and that the Freeway Triton supports updating its firmware, while the Lite version does not. That being said:
  1. Am I correct assuming that the FlashROM is meant to house the entire USB stack? Does that mean it's possible to boot Workbench from a FFS-formated USB drive? (it would sure make AmigaOS updates a heck of a lot easier) If not, what is the main selling point for having the FlashROM onboard?
  2. Regarding the firmware updates, have any been released so far? If that's true, does the Freeway Triton have features that the Freeway Triton lacks?
  3. My A3000 has the standard Buster chip it was shipped with. Since it hasn't been upgraded to Buster 11, will it cause the Freeway Triton/Triton Lite any issues?
  4. Finally, what is the "GBA" version?
Hope my questions make sense - I've never had FlashROM hardware in any Amiga before, so I'm not really sure what to expect. Since that FAQ doesn't seem to answer any of my questions, I hope it's in order for me to post them here. Thanks!

Hi,
Yes both cards have same USB controller chip, so speed is same on both cards (maximum of what Zorrolll can give)
The main difference between the two cards seem to be the FlashROM and that the Freeway Triton supports updating its firmware, while the Lite version does not.
That's correct, FPGAa has individual serial numbers while CPLD does not. Because of the Poseidon Licensing we can release FPGA (with FPGA serial number) Firmware only.
  1. Am I correct assuming that the FlashROM is meant to house the entire USB stack?
FlashROM contains Rescue Image (Freeway Tool, Poseidon Installation, Drivers and FlashTool called Luciferin. There is also space for additional modules like USB support, mouse/keyboard drivers, USB audio devices, notwork etc.. these are loaded before Your system boots up.

Yes
  1. Regarding the firmware updates, have any been released so far?
Yes, there was Firmware Update after we noticed that some systems are not happy with Triton cards running system @30MHz
  1. If that's true, does the Freeway Triton have features that the Freeway Triton lacks?
Nut sure I understand the question ⁉️
  1. My A3000 has the standard Buster chip it was shipped with. Since it hasn't been upgraded to Buster 11, will it cause the Freeway Triton/Triton Lite any issues?
Well, no, there should be no problems, because Freeway doesn't make DMA..
Some users have installed A4091 SCSI cards in their Amigas, so these systems have reached 1 DMA unit limitation already..
  1. Finally, what is the "GBA" version?
Please don't be lazy, use Google instead:

Declaring interest.

@DjCook,

thank you for sorting everything out for me.

With your reply in mind, I'm declaring interest for a green Freeway Triton (i.e. the FlashROM-version).

I would not know what new features I could add via the firmware. The firmware updates are more for bug fixes and compatibility improvements. New features are more likely to be added via the software (Luciferin, Poseidon, drivers).

There shouldn't be a problem, there is no Z3 DMA mode on the Triton.

Thank you for your comments. That FlashROM feature really seems like a game changer, so here's hoping the A1200 crowd will get to enjoy that in a future hardware revision of the Clockport boards, too.

Unfortunately, the Flash feature does not work via the clockport. Therefore there will be no clockport version with it.

Oh, bummer. Going slightly off-topic here, but I've noticed some people seem to "cook" their own Kickstart ROMs. Would it be doable to make your own Kickstart ROM chip with built-in USB functionality to allow the A1200 to boot from a USB stick?

I am not the seller of this item @mds
You have already declared interest in this thread so your next step is to message the seller, djcook, to arrange payment etc.
