thanks guys, can't begin to explain how chuffed i am to have the thing boot up exactly like the original (without the hardware crashes)

i have to test some things.......

  • PCMCIA support was not present (card.resource and carddisk.device are absent), and not needed, as the Walker didn't have a PCMCIA slot.
  • Exec was bumped to 43.4 (10.3.96) and displayed an alert message upon boot.
  • expansion was bumped to 43.2 (10.3.96), probably adapted to acknowledge the Walker's fastmem.
  • scsi.device was bumped to 40.20 (18.2.94), with some kind of large drive support.
  • strap bumped to 43.1 (8.3.96).
  • Removal of the 2GB limit from FFS (and possibly beyond 4.3GB)
  • Used Setpatch 40.16 (14.2.94).
  • 3.2 was supposed to use a new (two-chip) 1MB Kickstart ROM
  • Other bug fixes and small enhancements

Justin, you've completed the project the best way possible! Pure awesomeness. :thumbsup:

Please - give us as much info, as You can! Or even more! :)
People that wish to start a project like this, should pay a visit to an ex-owner of a Walker, namely Nicholas Blachford http://www.blachford.info/computer/walker/walker.html
He's done a great job in covering most details of the machine, and is a very friendly fella. You will find that he's done his tests in UAE with both the ROM and hard disk images, and it is my understanding that Amiga Forever already includes them (correct me if i'm wrong here).
Justin, once again, congrats!

@salaxi54

coming from you that is high praise indeed:)

@Zetr0

no!!! just no!!!! we'll have no Queen in here thank you very much!:mad:

Believe it or not I have another Walker related update......

yesterday morning I discovered that the rights to the Walker case are still owned!:o, this causes me a problem, by making this case I am infringing the design owners rights:(.

my next step was to try and contact the owner..........

well what a nice guy he is:thumbsup:

after a few email exchanges and photographs being looked at I received this.....

"

Hi Justin,

If you can confirm, that's for your own private purpose without any commercial use I don't mind. If you want to Show the product to others please inform, that it is a legal copy authorized by the Owner of all rights for private use only"

this means that my Walker case is now official:)

I have posted this information from the rights owner in order to respect his rights and to acknowledge him and the original designer of the Walker case and built the original cases for the CeBIT 1996.

Thanks go to both for allowing this project to be possible:thumbsup::)

cheers, Justin

Awesome Justin! As much as this wipes out hopes for 'mass' replication, at least you can feel comfortable with the one you have. I might as well contact Klaus for my replica too. Actually i'm glad i didn't go further in attempting to make multiple copies now that i know.
So, let's enjoy what we have for now. :thumbsup:

thats great news justin that you now have an official stamp

I wonder if you could add it to bboah

looking forward to seeing it in the flesh at replay. you need some pics of the process of making it for people to see too.

if you want some a4 lamenated let me know as I have a colour lazer printer and lamanator and forward me some full res pics and spec sheet

as for the BBOAH.......... at the end of the day m8, when all is said and done, it is only a PC and not worthy of the BBOAH:(
